You teach me to rise up

I feel very much in the world today, which is a little unusual. So, you know...that's nice. I think.

Long, bad week over. Hooray! There is nothing like someone telling you that you are not doing your job properly even though they have been singing a different song all the years prior. Way to randomly and suddenly change your mind! Eff the eff off.

I feel like I have a lot to do, but I actually don't. I just have to enjoy my weekend. *nods*

Here are the answers to a meme posted by the lovely [personal profile] white_death :

The rules: Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

The words/answers:

1) catfish - Haha! What? I um, like catfish! It's tasty. I especially like it fried in cornmeal (that's how my dad makes it).

2) cruise - once upon a time, both the boyfriend and I had full-time jobs and a decent chunk of discretionary "fun money." We went on 3 cruises in 2 years and had a blast every single time. We got to pop into a lot of countries I wouldn't necessarily want to visit for more than a few hours, ate delicious food every waking minute, and generally pretended to be bourgeoisy yuppies. Now, not so much. It was fun while it lasted.

3) Texas - the millstone around my neck, LOL! I am from Texas. I talk about it a lot. I have spent a decent part of my adult life trying to leave it, only to be dragged back again and again. Some might say I want to stay but I don't think that's it. Although, if I couldn't complain about Texas (the weather, the politics, the good ol' boys, etc), my entries might be shorter.

4) the kid - my little brother who I have helped take care of since he was born. We are super-close and now that he is all grown up and married and responsible-like, I am kinda sad because he doesn't need me anymore. Still, no one gets you like the people you grew up with. I like to post our IM conversations from time to time because they are so absurd.

5) unruly sun
- John Donne!!! I met S via a community devoted to Howl's Moving Castle. And while I love the movie, the book absolutely owns me, with it's strange and understated humor and the most self-absorbed anti-hero who quotes Mr. Donne in a particularly lovely little scene. That is what sticks with me, making Howl one of my most favorite characters ever.

If anyone wants to participate, I'm game - leave a request in the comments. Otherwise, please enjoy my random ramblings!
