I once had a sub at the Molinari Delicatessen in San Francisco and I thought I was dying (admittedly it was in part due to all the salami, mozzarella, oil, and dried things in oil that made up the actual sandwich...I thought I was having a heart attack). Truly delicious, though.
At home, my favorite is probably either grilled cheese with pickles or roast beef/havarti cheese on sourdough bread. Special mention goes to fried bologna on a tortilla, my mother's specialty. Ambrosia, pure ambrosia.
