Watching the horror unfold on TV juxtaposed with actually meeting some of the police/firefighters who drove out from California and Nevada to help was just mind boggling.

I like to think I am a survivor. But I have never been truly hungry. I have never endured true hardship. And although I have dealt without plumbing and electricity, I've never been without food or water for an extended period of time. It's scary to think about.
You never really know until it happens. I just keep thinking that a crowd of people must have been standing there doing nothing while those women and children were gang-raped and murdered in the Superdome. That's not something I could have done.
