Give sorrow words

My grandmother is in the hospital after falling and hitting her head. She is very old, the last of my granparents still living, and she is suffering from hallucinations and fairly severe dementia.

Of all my grandparents, I am probably closest to her because she and my mom are so alike. Hearing her say things that are so completely unlike her, feeling her fear because she doesn't know what is going on, and knowing that the doctors can't and won't do anything for her because she is too old...it's all just heartbreaking.

So, I was sitting here alone in my room, feeling completely helpless and impotent. I decided to say a rosary because I know that's what she would want me to do. I thought I would feel like a hypocrite, but I didn't. I just felt...better.
