Aug. 11th, 2006 09:34 pmSaw Step Up today. As a fan of any and all formulaic dance-n-romance movies, I found this one to be a snore (with the exception of one or two dance scenes). Blah. Too bad, really. It had potential. It could have been a contender...
My CCS DVDs came today. WooHoo!!! I am going to start all the way from the beginning because I can't remember where the Hell I am in the series.
In a fit of nostalgia, I rented the first DVD of The Monkees, season 1 from Netflix. Oy vey with the badness! But I love it because it reminds me of how they used to show the eps on MTV shortly after I had returned to the U.S. My cousin and I used to watch it ALL the time. Bringing forth the summer memories and my huge crush on Micky Dolenz. Yeah, you read that right. Micky was HOT. And hilarious. And a drummer. 'Nuff said.
My parents gave me a bag of notebooks/papers that they had found and I laughed and laughed to find that it was most of my craptacular poetry from high school and college. I also found some letters this nice guy had written me right before I moved to San Diego. He knew I was going out there to be with my boyfriend, but he still wrote me some sweet notes about his regret that we hadn't gotten to know each other better. I hope he is doing well because we ended things badly later on. Which is the only way things end with me, it seems.
And finally, JP thought it might be cool to hold a cel panel at Shimakon. So he emailed the con chair and put up a "hey who's interested" note on the forum. The collective response was tepid. I believe, "What's a cel?" was asked at one point. *shakes head sadly* But, after much back and forth, it looks like we will (at the minimum) have a room set aside for us to sit and show off a few goodies. We are both looking forward to it, especially since we were told that we are the only other event for Sunday (brunch with the GoHs being the main one). So, go us! But Seiji is staying here I'm afraid. ^__________^
