melcreada: (christmas berries)

I would like to go to there!

I have been lying in bed for over an hour and it is glorious!

I do have to get up and be productive, as tonight is my company Christmas party and, like any true glutton for punishment, I am going. It isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination: free food and music by once-great-bands that have fallen by the wayside (Styx and Lone Star this year, woo!). But I am still "at work." Absolutely no drinking and super-proper behavior expected. It's a little stressful, even though the party itself is humongous and I will probably know six or seven people in the whole arena.

The good news is I am feeling a little more chipper, possibly because I have a little extra money for the holidays. Thank goodness!

I forgot to mention that we went to see Monte Montgomery last weekend in San Marcos; thanks to [livejournal.com profile] annearchy  for introducing me to his music! He was fantastic. The best guitarist I've ever seen. And he gets all my love and a cookie for telling people to take a break from smoking (seriously, the smoke was THICK) and schooling the college brats in the front row who were chain smoking and resting their stocking feet on the stage. Ugh.

I also didn't realize that Monte plays fairly regularly in Austin (where they have banned smoking) so that is yet another reason to go and visit Nay-nay. Also, [livejournal.com profile] annearchy , be proud: I am already in the process of converting two Stevie Ray Vaughn fans into Monte fans. Heh, heh.

Also, I finished the second Twilight book and I liked it better than the first one! I'm not sure why, but Bella finally captured by attention and sympathy because getting your heart broken as a teenager is just how Stephanie Meyer writes it: melodramatic and overblown and painful and the worst you have probably ever felt. Plus, with Edward not around for a huge chunk of the book, she's not talking about his dulcet tones, crooked smile, or perfect beauty for awhile. LOL! Also, I love the Volturi and would like to hear more about them...

Wanna go wanna go wanna go!
Weiland and Cook at the same venue? On New Years Eve? In Las Vegas? *cries*

Okay, am seriously getting up now.

OMG YAY!!!! *clings* I've been trying to convert my flist to Monte for 5 1/2 years. So far I think you're maybe the third or fourth person (out of more than 200 on my flist) who actually "gets" Monte too:) Did you tell him "Anne in Madison sent me"? Because, dude, he would have laughed about that.

You need to start hitting up the Stevie Ray fans, LOL! I have already set my sites on another convert, my baby brother. He plays the guitar and is a HUGE fan of all the greats. I'm shocked he didn't know who Monte was, actually...he prides himself on his guitar knowledge.

And nooooooo!!! I didn't get a chance to say anything to him - I am a loser! I will try the next time I go see him because, yes, there will be a next time.

^_____^

You can tell Monte I sent you the first time, to Cheatham Street, but he brought you back on his own :D BTW you were a "Monte virgin" last weekend, but no more. Monte does an awesome version on Little Wing (really based on SRV's version) and he used to play some SRV covers too.

LOL! It's kinda crazy, actually - he is performing like three more times this month in Austin, including a double show on the 25th. o_O

Heh - virgin... *yes, I am a twelve-year-old boy*
