First of all, thank you to all my lovely friends who wished me a happy birthday. *love & squishes*

On Sunday we celebrated my dad's and my birthday, various anniversaries, and Christmas since the family will be separated this coming weekend. We ate at the Filipino restaurant and returned to the rent's for cake and presents. JP rocks and rolls all day long for getting me lots of gifts, including an iPod mini (pink), a ginormous Captain Jack Sparrow (hubba, hubba), and three cool nutcrackers (I collect in a languid way). The biggest and best is Herr Drosselmeyer and he is wicked! The English one with a cuppa tea and umbrella and the matador are cute too. My parents bought me a scanner and lots of little gifties and everyone else ponied up with gift certificates. wOOt!!

JP was a darling and brought me balloons at work on Saturday so, as he put it, "Everyone can see that you are beloved." *snerk* The Kid sent me orchids with the loving note, "Happy Birthday, dork." Nice.

So totally spoiled. ^_~ The girls are taking me out to dinner on Wednesday and Nay-nay has made reservations at a fondue restarant on Christmas Eve for a small party of us to gather and dip things in cheese. ^_~

This Friday and Saturday night were my department and company parties and both were nice. Not thrilling, but nice. After the Friday party, the girls and I went for a drink at the Flying Saucer. I am totally in love with that place and their wall of international beers. I love all the dark wood and Mexican star-shaped lanterns. I have decided it will be my new home. <3 Now I need to find someone to hang with that likes to sample beers from around the world in a panelled bar while discussing The Secret Lives of Bees. Okay, maybe B movie quotes instead of books. But we could work up to that eventually...

And now that I have babbled incessantly for far too long, I leave you with a link to a poem I posted here. It is dedicated to all my fellow cubicle veal. >_< Not very Christmas-y, but too true to pass up.

Thank you, sweetie! Yes, he is so beautiful. I will have to post a pic. The story of the Nutcracker is one of my favorites and the ballet will always have a special place in my heart. <3
