Last night I made myself a little drinkie-poo and turned on the television and TCM was showing Notorious AKA THE BEST MOVIE EVAR!!! A smooth and straight-laced Cary Grant loves drunken, trampy Ingrid Bergman in this fantastic spy movie. <3 <3 <3 I have been putting off buying the criterion collection DVD, but I think I am going to have to splurge. Le romantic sigh.

Also, I bought tickets to see Phantom of the Opera when the production comes to Houston this summer! Whee! I shall drag JP to see it, and verily he will like it or else be left to his own devices in said city. Love it, dammit! *insane giggles*

Speaking of Donna Parker and childhood crushes got me thinking even more about favorite childhood books. As more and more titles pop into my head, I think, "Jeezus, I read A LOT." Well, I did. Anyone remember Island of the Blue Dolphin? Loved that one. I also am having a hazy memory of a book I read about a bunch of animals staying at a resort hotel and there is a mystery to be solved. Strangely, I can't remember anything else except that I enjoyed the book. Does that ring any bells out there?

And on that note, I am going to bed before I buy anything else online. Have been a bad, bad girl...more to come on that later!

I read Island of the Blue Dolphin! I don't really remember it, but I know I read it at some poin, probably more than once. The other book doesn't ring any bells, alas.

I just remember getting SO emotional over certain books and that was definitely one of them. After reading Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, I was horribly depressed for weeks. Stories had the power to elevate and devastate me. In some ways, they still do...but not like before.
