Okay. Everyone knows how I loathe my job. But I do it and do it well because it is important to me that I be (in a manner of speaking) successful and that I earn my salary. I come in early, I stay late. I change my schedule at the drop of a hat because 1. I don't have as many familial commitments as everyone else and 2. It makes me indispensible.
Well, the boss asked me to make a special summer schedule for all the supervisors to "reward" us for our hard work. So I did. I got everyone's input, made it, re-tooled it, and adjusted it until everything was set. Well, apparently one of the girls complained. So my boss sent me an email that basically questioned my ethics in making the schedule. She insinuated that I had the "best" schedule out of everyone and that I needed to check with everyone to make sure it is fair.
My first reaction was incredible anger. I immediately confronted the two other supervisors who were there since my boss had
But after the first flash of indignation, I find that I am incredibly hurt. Hurt that my boss, a woman who has seen me time and again lay my free time/vacations/plans on the altar of work, would say something like that. Part of me can look at this whole thing disspassionately and assess her actions as a manager. But the main part of me feels like someone just ran over my kitty.
Calmer, I simply replied to the email, letting her know that I already talked to the other supervisors and if she feels my schedule is better than theirs, perhaps she would like to make the schedule for all of us so that there is no "favoritism."
God!

It's serious business questioning someone's ethics. Also to the complaining girl, get thee to the passive aggressive bitchery!

And thank you - that is the nicest compliment I've heard in awhile (JP's praise on the decibel level of my burps just isn't the same). LOL!
I was practically in tears, I was so upset and I stomped my way upstairs to where JP had laid the package out on the bed.
*sniffle, in a good way*

So very wrong.
Date: 2005-07-12 04:04 pm (UTC)From:I soooo hate office bs. You give, give, and give (both as an employee and as a manager to others) and you *still* fall short somehow. I just can't wait to go back in *looks at calendar* 13 days - wheeeee...

Yeah.
Enjoy your 13 days!!! ^_^
