Meme tag from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] wordsthatfail  ! Pooh - so many things I wanted to put down and then realized...I think I have already written about them. LOL!

Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 random things, facts, goals, or habits about yourself. At the end, choose 10 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. Don’t forget to leave them a comment (you’re it!) and to read your blog for instructions. You can’t tag a person who has tagged you. Since you can’t re-tag me, let me know when you’ve posted your blog so I can read the answers!

1) Okay, let's start with the not-so-fun stuff. I made a co-worker cry last week. It was totally unintentional and she was having a bad day, but I still felt like a slug. I am usually very good at reading people, especially if they are at the breaking point. I wanted to crawl into a hole after that, but later on that day, we made up. So, yeah. Everyone who thinks I am nice? I've probably made more people cry than you would guess. *nods*

2) I have the most irrational desire for the entire menu of Pat & Oscar's Restaurant. There was one close to my work and one close to my apartment when I lived in Cali and OMG! I became addicted to their lemon chicken salad and bread sticks. Sadly, the damn company won't branch out this way so I must content myself with eating there every few years. *sad face* I wonder if it is so delicious because I can never have it? *ponder*

3) My current goals include continuing my NaNoWriMo story (a four-month break is long enough, I think) and figuring out what I want to do, career-wise. Like, seriously this time. For really reals - I need a new direction.

4) I love, love, love trash TV. E! Network, reality shows, the whole shebang. Ask me about the latest Hollywood gossip, please! LOL...I can feel the most beloved verses of Shakespeare spontaneously combusting in my brain while a chorus of poets from Elizabeth Bishop to Anne Sexton wail and bemoan the loss of my soul. Mmmm, I wonder what is going on at [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt  ? ^_~

5) I nearly drowned 10 years ago (maybe I have already mentioned this?). I was in Cancun, playing in the waves. I grew up on the beach, I am a strong swimmer, but I got pulled in and pushed into a small trench where the water kept breaking. Scared. Shitless. I managed to make it to shore on my own, coughing and hacking, but still in one piece. Once again, Mother Nature reaches out and smacks the idiot human on the head. : (

6) I have an abnormal addiction to the phrase "sweet potato" whenever describing someone cute or adorable. As in, "Joshua Jackson is such a sweet potato!" I say this a lot. I got it off an old movie, so it's not even an original saying. But dammit, I'm gonna bring it back!

7) I find it very easy to tune things out. I think it comes from being part of a big family and growing up in a small house. Especially when you are trying to read and the TV is blaring and siblings are arguing and Dad is yelling and NOISE NOISE NOISE!! It drives JP crazy, because I can block anything out and I often do.

8) I had to fight to take Honors classes in middle school. Like, bring my parents in and argue kind of fight. We had just come back from the Philippines, where I had been in all Honors classes, but obviously that did not impress the counselor. What had made an impression on him was my two older siblings who had actually attended middle school there some 5-6 years earlier. They had both been hellions, bad students, and just plain trouble. He remembered and could not fathom how I would be much different. This was my first (but not my last!) negative experience in the Texas school system. Assholes!

9) At this point in my "young" life, my hair is actually about 30% gray. I color the Hell out of it, though. The one time I didn't, I looked like a skunk. It is depressing at times - I have been going gray since my mid-twenties. The weight of the world, my dears. *grin*

10) I love to cook. Like, I'm not actually good at it and I tend to alter the recipes from what's on the page to what's in my pantry. But it's so comforting. It reminds me of coming home from school and helping my mom with dinner or watching my dad make tortillas and cakes and pies. ^___^

I didn't tag anyone because I'm lame - but please take this if you like it. I love reading about your habits and funny quirks! Makes me feel a little more normal. Well, kinda.

Next time, remind me to tell you about my sexy Gerald Butler dream and how American Idol is alternately pissing me off and putting me to sleep.

EEE, beyond belated commentating goin' on, but, again, EEE! I adore these kinds of memes 'cause they're so damn interesting.

*pets and passes chocolate*

You are made of nice, dear. Like it or not, s'true. Trufax!

(I, uh, once didn't believe my six-year-old niece when she said if she ate any more of the grown-up dessert [Fudge Overboard, if memory serves] she simply had to have once time at Red Lobster that she'd throw up. I made her eat one bite too many and she totally threw up and cried and I still feel like a heel five years later. So there. *pets more*)

Trash TV is the best kind of intellectual marshmallow fluff! We should combine our powers of stellar and quote Ginsberg and Talk Soup in the same breath. World domination is ours, yo.

And, eep! I didn't know you nearly drowned! EEP! *flails and hugs*

I will help bring back "sweet potato"! On the condition that you add, "I want to violate that man like a parking meter" to your quip roster. *G*

'Kay. I have to stop this comment before I can't — and word to goin' gray prematurely, 'cause I just found a streak a silver hair near my crown mahself — but mmm, Gerard Butler. *goes to happy place* Don't forget to relay that dream if you haven't already. *G*

Hee! S'alright, darlin' - I understand about late replies...I owe more emails than I care to admit.

LOL - did I tell you I made someone else cry? Rawwr, I are big scary monster!!! Well, she was asking for it, demanding I edit her stuff for free AND on short notice. She caught me at work while I was running around and asking when it could be ready and my eye started twitching and...well, you know. *^___^*

Well, you taught your niece an important lesson: listen to herself and her gut (no pun intended) instincts. ^____^

DUDE. Quoting Ginsberg and Talk Soup at the same time is like a dream of mine, for real! *loves you*

Ah, yes...the drowning. Want to hear the freaky part? My sister used to have recurring dreams about my brother and me drowning...and both of us have nearly drowned. o_O

Re: sweet potato and violating men like a parking meter? Done and done!

Gerald Butler is covered elsewhere in this journal, but I will say this: most of that dream took place in the bedroom. Bow chicka wow wow...
