I went to see 'La Boheme' today and it was sublime! Lovely singing, elaborate staging, and the most moving music imaginable. Even knowing how the story ended, I cried. There is something very tangible about shows that use music to tell the story. Great ones will draw you in until you don't know where the characters' emotions end and your's begin. If that makes any sense, which I don't think it does. But oh, well.
I had a wonderful time. The Kid was on his best behavior and even enjoyed some of it. The Houston Opera will be performing 'La Traviata' (my favorite) in April, but I dunno...the 3 hour drive plus the $50 tickets are kinda giving me pause. Not that the San Antonio Lyric Opera isn't lovely...but it's strictly high school-ish compared to Houston. *sigh*
I'm going to bed now...
