Embarrassing confession #1,907: I love Miley Cyrus' song Party in the USA. The other day I mentioned it to one of the girls at work, who promptly whipped the headphone jack out of her iphone to show me that she was listening to that very song. And then, one of the other girls heard the music and came running up to show us her iphone that was playing the music video to it. I thought it was pretty funny. And maybe a little sad, but mostly funny. I am mainly an indie/90s grunge/singer-songwriter kinda gal, but I like Top 40 music, too - it's usually popular for a reason.
So, there you have. Another dirty little secret. *^___^*
And now, here is a meme I have been too lazy to post until now:
1. Write your memoir in six words.
Did nothing, enjoyed it all anyway.
2. What would you change about your undergrad?
I would have picked what I loved, English or History. My "practical" degree did not help me one bit in my "career" and I had a Hell of a time getting through the upper level microbiology classes.
3. How do you view your own personal spirituality?
It's a blend, I think, of how I was raised (sorta Catholic) and what I picked up along the way (try not to be a bitch, especially when the situation really calls for it). If I had the time, I would spend idle afternoons watching clouds or sitting by the ocean. That's my idea of spirituality.
4. What is your favorite comfort food?
Refried beans and tortillas (do NOT tell me mother). Growing up, it seemed like no matter what the main course was, the side dishes were always beans, rice, and tortillas. I swore, with bitter certainty, that the moment I left home, I would NEVER eat beans and rice again. Now, sometimes, the craving is so sharp, I have to laugh at myself. But smearing some beans in a warm tortilla take me right back into my parent's kitchen, where someone was always cooking and my siblings were always arguing and laughing, and somehow, I belonged. Which is a nice feeling.
5. What is one thing that scares you, that you think you should do?
Quit my job.
