Today, after my nap, I woke up in the same crappy mood, so I plunked down on the couch, ate a little chocolate chip ice cream, and watched the 'Surf Girls' marathon on MTV. Rather a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon methinks. But then...

I was thinking about the Kid leaving and all of a sudden I started having these flashes of memory. His clear, high-pitched giggle when he was a baby. How he would put his hand confidingly in mine. Our heads bent over a book together. Burrowing under the sofa cushion tent I made or eating peanut butter and jelly while watching cartoons. I am only 6 years older than him, but I was his main companion during the years we spent in the Philippines.

I am totally maudlin and already missing him terribly. It will be good for him though. And us, too. He's the baby of the family and we all give in to him waaay too much. He needs to be on his own for awhile (says the big sis clutching his leg as he tries to leave).

The worst part is that we are so close. We have similar interests and tastes. We can spend the day happily in the bookstore, library, movies, or in front of the TV watching DVDs. He is scary-looking and that comes in handy when we go places together. He was the one that flew to San Diego on a moment's notice when the Dreaded Ex kicked me out of the apartment. He helped me pack up my car and drove 22 hours straight to deliver me (crying non-stop, mind you) back home.

Gah. He's not dead. But he is going away. I will be strong. Yes. *chin quivers* I hope I don't start bawling at the airport.

I stopped by my parent's house last night and within minutes, everyone showed up for various reasons. That was really nice. We hung out for a while and then everyone was gone again. Moments like that make me glad to be in San Antonio.

Family is the best! The way you describe your relationship with your brother is an inspiration for how I want my little brother's and my relationship to be when he gets older :)

Hope everything goes well! ^_^

Yes! Family and friends are the most important things in the world.

Thank you...we've had our moments, let me tell you. But I won't deny our relationship is very special. No one knows you like the person you grew up with. *sniffle*
