Booooooom.com (Really? Do you have enough "o's" in there?) recently asked photographers to recreate famous paintings and while a lot of them are stunning, I liked this one the best because holy shit! It's awesome! Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles:

Lots more on their website. I am in art-nerd Heaven!

Neat link. That Van Gogh one is awesome, how they tried to mimic the expressionism.

(I am so amused by the dude doing Grande Odalisque though, with his citrus.)

Some that went for modern reinterpretation pulled it off. Some didn't. I liked suitcase Composition With Red, Blue and Yellow. I got a little tired of "ha ha, cell phones!"

I also liked Arachne, Pot Pourri, Study for Self Portrait (Francis Bacon), Vase with 12 Sunflowers, Dance (Matisse), high heeled The Treachery of Images and The Little Dance (always been fond of that sculpture). There were some pretty decent "girl"'s with a "pearl" earring.

Haha, I laughed so hard at the guy's Grande Odalisque (although I love the other one and have a slight girl crush on the young lady in the photo). Pot Pourri and and Vase with 12 Sunflowers were probably my next two favorites.

Some were so impressive and others...looked like the photographer remembered right before the project deadline and slapped something together. :)

Yes, the whole self-referential phone/computer thing was a little eh. But I get that they were trying to update the image. What I didn't understand was the one where the girl was clearly in a period dress, with an old fashioned hair-do...and she was holding a cordless phone. I mean, at least have a rotary phone, LOL!
