melcreada: (love com awake)

I need to start watching my spending. I always go a little crazy during the holidays. I can't help it! Santa made me do it!

JP and I were at the Half Price Books earlier and lo! They had several volumes of Boys over Flowers manga, but of course I couldn't remember which ones I was missing so I had to pass because I am an airhead. But I am going back. Oh, yes, I am going back.

What was that about saving money? LOL...

We also went to see Sweeny Todd earlier and...yeah. Let me preface this by saying that I loooove Johnny Depp and I would willingly have Alan Rickman babies if only he would ask. I am also nuts about musicals and actors who can sing. But...ew. Blood splatters everywhere. If the live performance of Sweeny is anything like the movie, it must resemble a Gallagher show

I know, I know. Melissa you are a weenie with a weak stomach, you say.  Johnny and Alan singing should have transported you to another realm of fandom where none of the icky stuff could touch you. But. I dunno. The singing was good. The actors were good (I also love Helena Bonham Carter). And the seaside scenes were both hilarious and a little heartbreaking, but overall I just couldn't get into it. Couldn't get past the grody-ness of it all. *sadface*

Tomorrow, I have three million things to do because procrastination rules!!!

I am seriously jonesing for some Japanese TV drama all of a sudden. Bit Torrent is not cooperating! I am trying to catch up with Hana Yori Dango LA series (although I have heard it's a letdown) and then I thought I'd check out the Nana LA movies. Any other suggestions, my friends? You know I love the sappy, shojo soap operas, preferably with young, pretty men. ^_____^

In other news, huh:

ETA: Hee, I am not lazy, I swear. I guess I'll start here: [profile] jdorama. But I'd still love to hear recs.

My co-worker went to my high school for a year and so we remember some of the same people from a long time ago. She asked me to bring my yearbook to work and tonight I pulled it out and had a great laugh. Mmmm, my curly, curly perm brings all the boys to the yard! LOL...

I notice that the more I like a poem, the less eloquent I become: Hell yeah!

And in other news, Hana Yori Dango, episode 27 is my new favorite because:

1. Rui explains that he won't stab Tsukasa in the back as Sojiro sweetly links his arm around Rui's neck. I LOVE THE BONDS OF BOYISH FRIENDSHIP, OMG!!! I think I like it better than yaoi, actually (sacrilege!).
2. The parallel memories of the two boys regarding the teddy bear: Tsukasa using it to spur him on in his quest to become a noble man and Rui's more mischievous deferment of the truth because of it.
3. How Rui finds a way to tell Tsukasa that nothing happened between Makino and him while Tsukasa is on the plane and his violent, comical reaction.

I love this show.

Oh, yeah, I also saw Becoming Jane and it was sweet and sad, but I felt like it was missing something. I dunno. Still good, just not great. Never thought I would say that about anything concerning Jane Austen, but there you have it.

The roses are rioting in the backyard. With no trellis to climb and absolutely no love from us, the stems are exploding horizontally and sprouting clusters of beautiful red flowers. I am so in love with their determination. Hopefully they will overtake the backyard and grow up and over the side of the house, like Sleeping Beauty's castle. Except, that would probably be bad for the house. Hmmm.

Hana Yori Dango actually made me cry. I'm such a girl .

We saw In the Land of Women, which wasn't bad. Not great, but enjoyable. Adam Brody is a cutie I guess, but I was crushing on the high school kid who loved his best friend's girl. Gotta love the jailbait with the prominent teeth. LOL...

Once again I bought beer to ice down in my cooler and once again I had a couple and got sick. What is the universe trying to tell me?! I don't get it!!

Well, off to go spend more money. ^___________^

ETA: [profile] wonderelf, I registered (name: Melly). Ahaha! Murakami has given you away! I think I just friended you. OMG - I have barely made a dent in my read/to-read lists. Aieee!
melcreada: (carry that weight)
Hot Gimmick ripped off the "socially-inept, abusive boy-child  falls in love with the girl he is bullying" theme from Hana Yori Dango. Y/N?

Still loving HYD and their melodramatic use of Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor. Because that piece of music? Is love! So totally suited for a show like this (which, incidentally, JP calls "creepy" but whatevs). Also, it took until episode 6, but I am back in love with FMP:TSR. Poor Souske! Buck up, little camper! Am impatiently waiting for the last disc because I cannot be arsed to find the episodes elsewhere.
