Just one more day and I'm off to Cabo! The Kid and Traci are actually getting married tomorrow because the whole "wedding in Mexico" seems to have some legitimacy issues stateside. So, when he called tonight, I sang him the first verse of My Fair Lady's "I'm Getting Married in the Morning." Well, it made me laugh. Heh...

I am getting more and more zen as the trip approaches. I know once we get there, all Hell will break loose, what with last minute details, etc. But I don't care. I'm on vacation, bitches!!!

I hope I don't forget anything.

Also, everyone in San Antonio was FREAKING OUT over Hurrican Ike. Like, the water and camping aisles of all the stores I went to were wiped out. I wanted to grab a bullhorn and yell at people, "We are 200 miles inland!" I know the storm was huge and that we could have gotten a lot of rain. But the odds were against it and we actually got next to NO rain.

I thought it was eerie - we had a beautiful sunny day while Galveston was getting pummeled. Anyhoo, I am so over this town panicking over any kind of weather abnormality: ice, hurricanes, smoke from slash and burn in Mexico. This city just needs to grow a pair. We have wonderfully mild weather compared to a lot of other places.

As a completely random tangent to this diatribe, in the Philippines we used to prepare for typhoons by filling the bathtubs with water and pulling out the kerosine lantern and a few candles. The power would sometimes be out for days. My dad used to make us do our homework, no matter what, and I remember sitting right next to that damn Coleman lantern, sweating like mad and trying to figure out !@#$ fractions. Ah, the good ol' days...

I have eaten a disgusting amount of food today and my iPod refuses to transfer music to iTunes on my laptop. Other than that, all is well.

This weekend has FLOWN by. I am actually off until Thursday so, go me! We were given today off, I asked for tomorrow off because of my a court date (boo!), and my boss gave me Wednesday off because I am working Saturday. So, um...huzzah?!

On Friday and Saturday night, JP and I went to see Shakespeare in the Park. It was very nice, particularly on Saturday when we were not surrounded by loud children and RUDE, non-stop yapping adults. I mean, seriously! Why bother coming out if you are not even going to pay attention to the performance?! And I noticed that a bunch of people left during intermission that first night.

I just don't get it. If you don't love the Bard and you are just going because you are pretentious, why don't you save yourself the time and gas and just lie about going to see it? Sorry, it just makes me really mad to see people treat something I love with so little respect and with absolutely no regard for those of us who were there because we actually wanted to see Shakespeare in Space (seriously, the setting was in a galaxy far away, with shiny lamé shirts and black, heavily-buckled platform boots).

Anyway, the performance was better Saturday night and I'm so glad JP was game to go again. How cool is their poster?

In other news, I just received my STP and American Idol tickets in the mail. YAY!!! I'm such a dork, you guys but I don't even care! I am not too thrilled about going to STP on my own, but I figure it's gonna be a lot of thirtysomethings like me trying to relive the good ol' days and thus, I have nothing to worry about. Still going to wear my steel toes, though. Just in case. LOL...

All the AI media is making me a little crazy, I think. I get in a hyped-up frenzy over all the interviews, etc. and I think a cooling off phase is going to be necessary if I ever hope to become a functioning member of society again.
