melcreada: (ponce charming)

Am refusing to look at my checkbook. La, la, la, la...

It's very scary in there. Ever since that automatic withdrawl went into effect for my check card, it has been IMPOSSIBLE to balance my checkbook. *seethes* You would think I would stop using my check card and just use the debit. But nooooo, I have to make that 0.03% back on my purchases. Heh.

Am so addled.

In other troubling news, I am supposed to read my own gas meter and report the info to my rinky dink gas company but I consistently forget to do so. Seriously, who has to read their own gas meter? Feh.

Am in SUCH an anime mood right now, but no money to buy any. *sniffles*

I did, however, watch Lupin III: Dragon of Doom and saw my cel in the opening credits! The background I have actually isn't matching (it comes up a few seconds later into the opening), but I think it looks pretty good anyway. *squee*

DUDE.

My fellow Lupin fan - meant to poke you about that earlier - Dragon of Doom? I don't think I know that one. Is it recent?

Re: DUDE.

AHAHAHAHAHA!!! YES!!! Another Lupin III fan. *crickets chirp around us*

Geez, do we like the pervs and lecherous anti-heroes, or what?

Dragon of Doom is fairly recent on the U.S. market but has been out in Japan for awhile. I forget the original title. It's not my favorite, by far, but even mediocre Lupin is a good time. ^________^

Ooo, he's hot.

Who's that guy in your icon?

AHAHAHAHAHA!!! YES!!! Another Lupin III fan. *crickets chirp around us*

XD You know what's fucked up?
I really think this is a product of a) closed-mindedness and b) the presentism that plagues the anime/manga fandom in this country.

Because at my old job, I converted half of my coworkers into Lupin fans. I'd have these movie fests, where everyone would come over and watch Lupin and roll on the floor laughing and throw food at one another, making filthy jokes. Then we'd play Lupin at work. XD Scare the customers.

But anyway. No one wants to know from it now. Except a few die-hard Miyazaki fans, but they're only interested in his contribution. It's sad.

I think the first set of translated manga even went out of print. Actually, I know they did, because I bought a bunch at half price.
I mean, wtf? In Japan, that'd be sacrilege.
Pff. Morons.

Geez, do we like the pervs and lecherous anti-heroes, or what?

We do! =D
*hi-five*
Though I'm much more about Goemon when it comes to Lupin. I want to BE Lupin when I grow up, but I want to shag Goemon. XD How wrong is that?

Dragon of Doom is fairly recent on the U.S. market but has been out in Japan for awhile. I forget the original title.

Oh, is that what they're calling Zantetsuken is on Fire? I have that raw.

It's not my favorite, by far, but even mediocre Lupin is a good time. ^________^

Damn right.
Hell, even BAD Lupin is a good time.
I watch Manhattan Joke and laugh as I cringe. XD

LOVE. YOUR. ICON.

The icon is the clueless jerk protagonist in the manga Hot Gimmick. He is quite pretty. ^_~

You know what's fucked up?

Word. Being at an anime con always brings this home. It's all about what's popular RIGHT NOW. *sigh*

Though I'm much more about Goemon when it comes to Lupin. I want to BE Lupin when I grow up, but I want to shag Goemon. XD How wrong is that?

LOL! Excellent. Actually, I vacillate between the two because I have a thing for stoic, heroic men. Hee, hee! But they don't tend to be as much fun as pervy, naughty boys.

Oh, is that what they're calling Zantetsuken is on Fire? I have that raw.

Yes. I watched it and it didn't quite have the snap and sparkle of some of the other Lupin I have seen. Nothing like Goemon holding Jigen in a close embrace a la Fujiko's Unlucky Days.

XD

Damn right.
Hell, even BAD Lupin is a good time.
I watch Manhattan Joke and laugh as I cringe.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Harimao's Treasure has been panned by various reviewers, but it remains one of my favorite Lupin movies.

XD Thanks.

Talking about Lupin made me all nostalgic, and I remembered I have room now for the Goemon icons I put off making before. Finding decent images of him on the web is a bitch, though. Maybe I'm just too picky.

The icon is the clueless jerk protagonist in the manga Hot Gimmick.

Ah. I look at that every now and then at work and go, "Is this good?" And put it back. XD

He is quite pretty. ^_~

He is! What's this icon from?

Word. Being at an anime con always brings this home. It's all about what's popular RIGHT NOW. *sigh*

Which just. Makes me hate whatever is popular RIGHT NOW even more. XD

Actually, I vacillate between the two because I have a thing for stoic, heroic men.

Samurai are so smexy.

Hee, hee! But they don't tend to be as much fun as pervy, naughty boys.

They are the driving forces behind the story. XD

I watched it and it didn't quite have the snap and sparkle of some of the other Lupin I have seen.

Some of the movies are more like long tv episodes than actual movie-movies. But it's all good. ^^
I really need to see that one with subtitles. XD I think I like it, just because it's more Goemon-focused than most.

Nothing like Goemon holding Jigen in a close embrace a la Fujiko's Unlucky Days.

XD Whaaaaaaaa?!
That one I haven't seen yet. I almost won it on ebay once, but then someone outbid me, and I found out they were only selling pirated VCDs anyhow. So I gave up. =(
Is it officially out in the U.S. now?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Harimao's Treasure has been panned by various reviewers

Pff. WTF do they know?

but it remains one of my favorite Lupin movies.

Harimao kicks ass majorly.
Damn, what do they want? Miyazaki? Please.
That's one of my top picks for starting off n00bs. I mean, come on. It's got the whole Bond thing going on.

Re: XD Thanks.

If you can stand the horror of my mad 90s-style html skillz, I have some scans of my cels from Lupin III (including Goemon) here:

http://joseishijin.tripod.com/lupin.htm

You are welcome to use the images if you like. Some people have complained that the images are too dark, but I have no incentive to re-scan them, etc. *lazy, lazy*

What's this icon from?

Hot Gimmick also. It might set off your squick factor to know the two canoodling are actually step-siblings. ^_^;

I really need to see that one with subtitles.

I dunno if I can burn it or not, but I can try if you are interested...

For Goemon-centric, I really love The Fuma Conspiracy.

XD Whaaaaaaaa?!

OMG! You must see this one! Every fangirl needs to see Goemon trying to give Jigen mouth-to-mouth just once. LOL...

Unfortunately, I do not think it is out in the U.S. I saw a fansub of it awhile back.

That's one of my top picks for starting off n00bs. I mean, come on. It's got the whole Bond thing going on.

YES!!! It was one of my first Lupin experiences and I saw it with a group of people and we laughed our asses off. Awesome stuff.

If you can stand the horror of my mad 90s-style html skillz

I don't have ANY html skillz, so it's not like I can talk. XD

I have some scans of my cels from Lupin III (including Goemon) here

Whoa, you have so many! And even some from Cagliostro! I won't ask how much you spent on them. XD

You are welcome to use the images if you like.

Thanks! I probably will. ^^

Some people have complained that the images are too dark, but I have no incentive to re-scan them, etc. *lazy, lazy*

I think they're fine. Besides, that's why we have image programs - to fix stuff we think is too light/dark/etc.

Hot Gimmick also. It might set off your squick factor to know the two canoodling are actually step-siblings. ^_^;

So typical.
What IS it with the Japanese and incest?
I feel like I should take a course in Japanese psychology.

I dunno if I can burn it or not, but I can try if you are interested...

Am I interested? *snort* ;)
Don't put yourself out, but I'd love to have it.

For Goemon-centric, I really love The Fuma Conspiracy.

Well, of course. ;D You can't beat that.
This is the part where I confess, with some embarrassment, that my first screen name was Ishikawa Murasaki.

OMG! You must see this one!

I know! T_T

Every fangirl needs to see Goemon trying to give Jigen mouth-to-mouth just once. LOL...

XD!
DUDE.
I'm sure Jigen was enjoying it, anyway.

Unfortunately, I do not think it is out in the U.S. I saw a fansub of it awhile back.

Boo. I'll have to keep an eye out, then.

YES!!! It was one of my first Lupin experiences and I saw it with a group of people and we laughed our asses off. Awesome stuff.

Very.
I think of the non-Goemon-centric, non-Miyazaki Lupin I have, Napoleon's Dictionary is probably my favourite. Well, tied with Mamo. XD Because you can't beat Mamo for 'so bad it's good'. Then it's kind of a tie between Nostradamus and Harimao. Maybe Nostradamus a teensie bit more, because of that great scene toward the beginning where Lupin and Jigen try to break into the safe. XD That's as good as any scene in Cagliostro. The prison break sequence with Zenigata is great, too.

*just rambles on*
XD Look what you've started!

*^_^* Back in the halcyon days before I bought a house, my disposable income was sucked away by cels. o_O Yes, the CoC ones were a bit steep, but the others were suprisingly inexpensive (okay, woo! for unpopular series).

So typical.

LOL! I don't know, but it is very prevalent. That would be an AWESOME course. Er, I think.

Don't put yourself out, but I'd love to have it.

I'll give it a go.

This is the part where I confess, with some embarrassment, that my first screen name was Ishikawa Murasaki.

COOL.

LOL! I could talk about Lupin FOREVER. Must. Buy. More. Lupin.

*^_^* Back in the halcyon days before I bought a house

I'm not sure why I thought you were renting...

my disposable income was sucked away by cels. o_O

Mine by manga and such. ^^

Yes, the CoC ones were a bit steep, but the others were suprisingly inexpensive (okay, woo! for unpopular series).

And they're such good shots. Awesome.

LOL! I don't know, but it is very prevalent.

I mean, it's in the mythology from the very beginning, so it's gotta be something.

That would be an AWESOME course. Er, I think.

XD It would.
I once ordered in a book that was along those lines, but it was so thick I couldn't get my brain around it at the time. Now I'm sure it's out of print. =\

This is the part where I confess, with some embarrassment, that my first screen name was Ishikawa Murasaki.

COOL.

XD You're, like, the ONLY person who would say that. *hugs*

LOL! I could talk about Lupin FOREVER.

Let's! =D

Must. Buy. More. Lupin.

XD Which ones do you have? Maybe we can trade!

Starting a new thread!

I'm not sure why I thought you were renting...

Maybe it's because I am always talking about traveling or going elsewhere. LOL! You can take the girl out of the country, but you'll never get her to settle happily later on. >_<

Mine by manga and such. ^^

Collecting manga is starting to be my new hobby because it is "cheaper."

Hey, denial ain't just a river in Egypt!

And they're such good shots. Awesome.

Aw, thanks! I love it when people admire my cels. Before I snatch them back and snarl ALL MINE!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

*cough*

XD You're, like, the ONLY person who would say that. *hugs*

Hee! *hugs you back*

LOL! I could talk about Lupin FOREVER.

Let's! =D

Okay! XD

Which ones do you have? Maybe we can trade!

I am pathetic! Although I have seen a lot, I own precious little. I have Castle of Cagliostro, Harimao's Treasure, Dragon of Doom, and Fuma Conspiracy. I wrote my friend the other day because he had promised me a looooong time ago to make good on some Lupin discs he had but has not ponied up yet. He has, among his collection, Fujiko's Unlucky Days and talking about it the other day really made me want some more, so I poked at him again. XD

Whatcha got? ^_~
I'm not sure why I thought you were renting...

Maybe because I keep thinking of you as younger than you are? ^^ Because you talk of getting new furniture? Living on the second floor? Dunno.

LOL! You can take the girl out of the country, but you'll never get her to settle happily later on. >_<

Which country? O-o

Mine by manga and such. ^^

Collecting manga is starting to be my new hobby because it is "cheaper."

*cackles* If you say so.
I'm still kicking myself for that $5K my dad gave me years ago to pay off debts...which I promptly blew on cosplay and manga. -_-

Hey, denial ain't just a river in Egypt!

XD
You are the QUEEN of deNile! *bows down*

And they're such good shots. Awesome.

Aw, thanks! I love it when people admire my cels.

XD I'd like to take that as something dirty.
Not because it is, but because I am. *cackles*

Before I snatch them back and snarl ALL MINE!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

*cough*

XD Cute.

LOL! I could talk about Lupin FOREVER.

Let's! =D

Okay! XD

XD *waves the flag*
*typed 'fag' again, by accident* XD

Which ones do you have? Maybe we can trade!

I am pathetic! Although I have seen a lot, I own precious little.

Awwwwwwwww!

I have Castle of Cagliostro, Harimao's Treasure, Dragon of Doom, and Fuma Conspiracy.

OoO! That's nothing! ;_;

Hee. Did he ever respond?

Whatcha got? ^_~

Let's see if I can remember. Tokyo Crisis, The Theft of Napoleon's Dictionary, Manhattan Joke, the two Miyazaki tv episodes, four others of series 2, I think, From Russia with Love, the four you mentioned, The Mystery of Mamo, and...probably something else I'm forgetting right now.
I'm happy to copy any of mine for you, but they would be VHS, because that's how I have them.

Dude. What's the one where they go to the middle east, and there's that prince who's pretending to be dead while leading a coup against the dictator and they have to disable this scary-ass organic super computer? I have that one, too.

Oh!

Date: 2005-10-13 08:34 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] white-death.livejournal.com
I forgot Nostradamus Must Die. No clue why I mixed that up with Tokyo Crisis (though I have both).

But I still can't remember the name of that middle-east one. Hmmm. *ponders* Fuck, I'm old. XD

Oh, dude!

Total Alzheimer's moment.

I think the one I was thinking of is Dead or Alive. I'm also pretty sure I have In Memory of the Walther P-38.

I sound dumb, but I don't remember the raw ones as well, because I only watched them once or twice.
