Hello, hello. I am almost out of sick land, but still saddled with a horrible cough and burning eyes. My body is worn out, yet my mind is racing, so you can imagine how happy I am about that.

So, let's list things!

1. I really, really want to buy the soundtrack for Across the Universe and am trying to justify its purchase since I am already over budget for October. I just love the Beatles and I love it when I hear good covers of their music (you would think that would be the opposite case for a fan, but whatevs I'm weird).

2. Speaking of being broke, OMG! Lupin III hanken! Why now, Mandarake?! It's like they are torturing me on purpose! I don't even particularly care for the image, but how many times am I going to come into contact with a Lupin III hanken? Also, the Big Web auction is full of evil goo and I must stay away. *sniffles*

3. In other news, there are lots of movies I want to see, almost none of which got particularly fantastic reviews: Across the Universe, The Game Plan (stop laughing), Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Kingdom, and Into the Wild.

4. And, finally, in news befitting my financial status: Netflix (love you, love you, love you) offers so many hours of movies that I can watch instantly on my computer as part of my plan. So, I started browsing and although some of the selections are unimpressive, the documentary list is mouth-watering. I have already watched The Great Happiness Space, about host clubs in Osaka (very interesting and sad and at the same time kind of hard and fake - I still totally want to go to one and have a champagne call, though). Am planning on some trashy Madonna: Truth or Dare later. Perhaps tomorrow, I will tackle the delectable four-hour In Search of Shakespeare so that I can regain a brain cell or two. Whee!!!

Good: I saw Castle of Cagliostro on the big screen! Lupin III + Miyazaki = eternal anime bliss.
Bad: The image was off center and the right edge of the movie was hitting the curtain. Even though we complained, they didn't fix it. They gave us free passes, but you know. Big whup.
Middling: We were the only people  in the theater. Just JP and me. So yay no one blocking my view, boo Anime Bento won't ever come here again.

Dammit! Kyo Kara Maoh's last few season 2 discs will be affected (among others). Must find alternate way to view I guess. What a bummer...I feel bad for the company and worried about what this bodes for anime's future in the U.S.

The best thing in the world when your shoulders and back are sunburned? A strapless bra. And aloe vera, of course. Damn! I am not supposed to burn - I have lots of pigment! WTF, sun?

List of Things Still on the Agenda because I have crap memory and will forget what I don't write down:

Next weekend with Nay-nay: possible
Labor Day weekend, Animefest (Dallas): probable
September 26, Castle of Cagliostro screening: Hells yeah!
October 5-7, Shimakon (SPI): more than likely

Hrm, if I go to Animefest, maybe I could stop by the only LUSH store in Texas. *drools at the thought*

Okay, that was it. Off to go spray some cooling gel on my ouchies.

Just a flyby entry to say that:

1. I know you are all waiting on tenterhooks to see when I will post cruise pictures, but I am still procrastinating because. Well. That's what I do.

2. [personal profile] whitereflection  gets all my love and a box of chocolate-covered bishies (um, that's in a GOOD way). Thanks for the v-gift, baby!

3. Lupin III: Secret of the Twilight Gemini? OMG. Best. Lupin. EVAR. So freaking hilarious, I don't even know where to begin. It reignited a pretty strong desire to collect cels. Le sigh. Watched it with JP and a bag of Dove chocolates. Truly, the best early Valentine's gift a gal could ask for.

Submerging again...but I'll be back.

Dayum!

Was Zenigata dressed as a Carnival showgirl my favorite part of Lupin: Farewell Nostradamus? No, actually it was Zenigata's teary, anime eyes of happiness upon finding Lupin alive that brought this fangirl back to life. *squee* Greatness!

And, as promised, pictures of my sister's bellydancing show at the lovely Arneson River Theater in downtown SA (DAMN their one-way streets!).

Belly, belly, belly. )

My head feels like it will explode with all the thoughts flitting in and out of it: crazy little packages, half unwrapped in every corner of my brain.

To distract myself, I watched Lupin III: Crisis in Tokyo and Kyo Kara Maoh, volume 5. It is a true testament to how I am feeling when even Lupin didn't quite cheer me up. It just wasn't as funny as usual.

*checks forehead for fever*

Okay, it is obvious that I need any and all Lupin fans at my house STAT so I can watch it with a big group and laugh and be silly. It's okay. I'll wait.

It is also a testament to how distracted I am when several characters/plot points were brought up in KKM and I was all WTF?! Who is that?! What are they talking about?! DAMMIT! Although I would like to say Conrad is a tasty, TASTY man. Mmmhmm.

My internet has been spazzing out on me in the evening lately. Might have to look into that.

Am refusing to look at my checkbook. La, la, la, la...

It's very scary in there. Ever since that automatic withdrawl went into effect for my check card, it has been IMPOSSIBLE to balance my checkbook. *seethes* You would think I would stop using my check card and just use the debit. But nooooo, I have to make that 0.03% back on my purchases. Heh.

Am so addled.

In other troubling news, I am supposed to read my own gas meter and report the info to my rinky dink gas company but I consistently forget to do so. Seriously, who has to read their own gas meter? Feh.

Am in SUCH an anime mood right now, but no money to buy any. *sniffles*

I did, however, watch Lupin III: Dragon of Doom and saw my cel in the opening credits! The background I have actually isn't matching (it comes up a few seconds later into the opening), but I think it looks pretty good anyway. *squee*
