So, my sister called me to inform me that when we drive to Georgetown to attend Kenny's rosary Tuesday night, we will

1. Have a 90-lb dog named Rusty in the car
2. Be traipsing through the old cemetery in the dark in order to leave flowers on my grandparents' graves.

"Don't worry," She assured me. "I have flashlights."

I have learned not to ask questions, because the answers give me headaches. I'll let you know how it goes...

Who else wants to see Will Ferrell's Land of the Lost? ^____________^
melcreada: (dc - word nerd? really?)
Tomato and mozzarella salad: good.
Snickers ice cream: bad (but oh so nummy!).

Helping Mom shop for a dress for the kid's wedding: perfect, saintly daughter Mel.
Buying lots of clothing that I really don't need: broke, materialistic Mel (was totally fun, though).

I have nothing of import to impart (hee) except to say we saw Step Brothers (I love Will Ferrell and he does no wrong in my eyes, ergo this movie was HILARIOUS) and Mamma Mia (cute, gorgeous scenery, but would it have killed them to dub Pierce Brosnan's singing voice? Oy vey).

Everyone seems to be having BIG EVENTS in their lives lately, both good and bad, but I am still chugging along on an even keel. However, after the craptacular way last year ended and this one began, I figure boring time is good time.

I need to go to the dentist but have been putting it off for the last six months. My avoidance tendencies are incredible. I also need to get my hair trimmed, but the place I went to last time closed down. !!! I tell you, every time I find a hairstylist I like, they disappear. I am starting to develop a complex. As is my hair...it's gone all limp and greasy on me. Ew.

Am I wrong for thinking this is hilarious? Chocolate Jesus: My Sweet Lord. Are they for real? Is this a participatory art performance? 'Cause: yum!

Things that are yay!

1. Jon Heder speaking Japanese and Will Ferrell, well, being Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory.
2. Blake Lewis saying that he would love to share the stage and scat with Ella Fitzgerald. Warning: if he actually sings an Ella song on big band night, I will die with happiness. Please send flowers.
3. I bought my Morrissey ticket.

I am continuing to enjoy my extended weekend. Don't make me go back...
melcreada: (martini)
So, Saturday, after a full day's work, I went out with the gang. I loved Swig. I loved the dark panelling and the jazz music and the kick-ass dirty vodka martinis. Unfortunately, the gang hated the pricey drinks and pretentious crowd, so after a while we went to another club. Still, all in all, had a good time and was careful not to drink too much.

Although that seemed to make no difference to my head in the morning. But I glugged some Gatorade and popped some aspirin and was ready to go when JP took me to the early showing of Stranger Than Fiction. I thought it was a terrific movie! I don't know if I am seeing through clear eyes, given that I am an Emma Thompson fan and a Will Farrell freak. But I liked the story and how they went about telling it. Wonderful and highly recommended, especially if you are a bibliophile. *literary squee*

Afterwards, I came home and slept like the dead. Huzzah for loooong afternoon naps!

Later, the whole family (sans Davy-boy, who is sick) turned up for dinner at Outback Steakhouse to celebrate various December birthdays and anniversaries. I got lots of cool gifties and one disgusting cake. Here's a question for the cooks: does substituting olive oil for regular vegetable oil make a cake taste like ass? My sister, bless her and her wannabe-McGyver intentions, did this and I was just wondering. Hee, hee.

Oh, yeah and I got a third compliment on my haiku t-shirt. Almost no one in San Antonio gets this, save the bitter service industry. Ah, well.
