Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! I had a short, but pleasant weekend. JP got me a stuffed Pooh and Eeyore (dressed as Cupid!) and the Playstation network game Flower, which is beautiful and relaxing and draws you in from the get-go. It's just lovely and moody. I already finished playing it! Me! And a game! I made dinner (chicken with spinach, cheese, and red sauce over noodles) and we just had a quiet night in.

Yesterday, we saw A Single Man and it was beautiful: sad and poignant, with small moments of joy and hopefulness. Colin Firth is a revelation. Go see it. It will break your heart and make you glad to be alive.

I am currently in the process of getting rid of some shelves in the master bedroom and there is crap EVERYWHERE! I also need to post San Fran pictures and talk about the vacay a bit because in spite of our difficulties at the end, the majority of the trip was a blast.

And finally, in case any of you were wondering, the book Vampire Darcy's Desire SUCKS ASS. As if there had been any doubt. The author talks disdainfully in the preface about horrible P&P sequels and then has the gall to write the worst fan fiction known to man! Eliza giggles and sucks face with Darcy every chance she gets while Darcy is the whiniest vampire ever. Buck up, little camper! If Regina Jeffers wanted to write horror, she should have paid more attention to the Bronte sisters instead of Austen - those bitches knew how to write a Gothic novel!

Wonderful Christmas and thank goodness it is over! I am wiped! Last night was the big family party. Everyone brought a lot of booze and that's all I have to say about that. Later when it was just the familia, we opened gifts. I got a lot of beautiful things, but the best two gifts I got were:

Knowing my great love for Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back) and my
frustration with the lack of a DVD, JP bought me an old copy on VHS AND a collection
of the original lobby cards that were put in the theaters when the movie was released.
I love this man, for serious. Also, please admire my French manicure because those
are my actual nails. Wot, wot!

Will you have the goodness to look at this badass present? Julie made (MADE WITH HER
OWN HANDS) me a Shakespeare keychain complete with ruff collar and quill. Her skill
and thoughtfulness put me to shame. I am not worthy!!!

Also, these pictures count for my meme: Day 09 → A photo you took (two for the price of one, baby).

Everyone, have a great day!!! I am off to watch a PBS double whammy of The Nutcracker and La Boheme whilst eating roast beef sandwiches. Mmmhmm....

Well, the good news is I...kinda feel better. The bad news is that I am having off and on ear pain, so I think I must away to the doctor. Feh. Weak sauce, immune system.

To make myself feel better, I bought/ordered books (and a lot of them) as well as The Children of Húrin calendar illustrated by Alan Lee, whom I love above all other illustrators. Oh, and the two disc Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix DVD. Hee, hee.

As to books, I got:

- Pride & Prejudice-related trilogy by Pamela Aiden (preparing to wallow in Austen-esque goodness)
- A History of the World in 6 Glasses (have been wanting this forever)
- 1791: Mozart's Last Year (history rocks, as does Mozart)
- The Luxe (trashy, turn-of-the-century YA novels FTW!)
- Twilight (vampire YA that everyone assures me is fantastic and by gosh, they better be right!)

Gift cards rule the world.

I am grateful:

[profile] nurikot: THANK YOU!!! I can't wait to start watching it...and thank you for the gift. It made me smile, to think of Kyoto. And laugh...you'll see when my packet gets to you. LOL...

[profile] ixiepixie: Thank you for the ornament! JP and I were laughing because it took us a moment to figure it out. Duh! You are a sweetheart...er, you still live at the same address don't you? Why I don't ask these questions before sending stuff out, I have no clue... ^__^;;;

[personal profile] shirobara: Thank  you for the card!! Hope those early hours at work are treating you okay. ^_~

I sent all my cards and gifties out yesterday - go me for waiting until the third week of December (again) to mail Christmas stuff. I have also wrapped most of my presents and they are sitting in my closet. Rock on!

Well, I never thought the day would come when I would defend Jessica Simpson, but the whole fuss about her being a bad luck charm is just too ridiculous. Now, here is Texas, we are crazy for our sports. Especially football and basketball. Which is all fine and dandy - but the vitriol spilled against this dingbat is unbelievable. It's an embarrassment to anyone with a brain. They didn't play well enough to win. End of story. Get over it and go focus on something else, like your family or the ozone layer. Yeesh.

Cleaning the house is slow going. But I just filled three big trashcans outside. Huzzah!

Crap day at work ended with a crap drive home and then...wonderfulness exponentiated!!! Real word? Dunno...

Wonderfulness:

1. My Allen cel from Lizzard arrived. Huzzah! More beautiful than the image I have always admired. First cel purchased in...gads, it's been over a year!
2. Birthday gifties from [profile] wonderelf! THANK YOU ARWEN!!! I took a picture of all the Ouran magnets on my fridge, but my camera phone sucks. Oh and BTW - chibi Conrad with my birthdate? BEST THING EVAR!!! Totally turned my day around to get your package, honey. You (and the international postal service) have impeccable timing, for reals.
3. I love it when JP scratches my back.
...

4. To further my joy, I ordered some dinner from Sushi Zushi and have just finished some hamachi and unagi nigiri sushi followed up with a bit of katsudon.
5. Also, much to my dismay, I find that the two glasses of wine I had with this meal have completely intoxicated me. Wheeeeeeeeeee!

It's raining outside. I'm listening to lovely music and finishing the last of my Gewurztraminer. Hasenpfeffer. Whatevs.

So very happy. *squeezes the flist*

Happy New Year, my darling flist! *much hugs and happy dances because I am not hungover*

Not too much going on, except JP IS THE BEST BOYFRIEND EVAH because he got me LotR Trivial Pursuit! Which, incidently, is harder than I thought since I have not watched all the EE appendices as closely as I should have. D'oh!

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] wonderelf for the Hello Kitty stationary! OMG! SO CUTE! *hugs*

Also, OMG MANDARAKE BIG WEB AUCTION! *licks chops* Lupin, Lupaaaaan!

Normally, I abhor any kind of yearly resolutions because I always fail horribly. But, what the Hell.

2005 Resolutions

1. I will finish all the books I bought in 2004. Not an insubstantial number.
2. I will use my gym membership. No, really.
3. I will continue to look for another job outside my area.
4. I will track my finances closely because this year I want to buy a house. So, ix-nay on big web auction. *sniffles*
5. I will follow my new regimen for cleaning and throw out everything in my wardrobe that no longer fits.

Okay, that's enough. Yeesh.

Now, here is a resolution I can really get behind!

In the year 2005 I resolve to:

Drink more beer.
