Happy Halloween!!!

I just got back from my weekend of David Cook concerts. He sounded fantastic and was in fine form. His co-headliner Gavin Degraw and their opening act Carolina Liar were both great, too. Unfortunately, neither venue was anywhere near capacity, although Austin's ACL was probably three-quarters full (Houston Arena was maybe one-third full...). So a little depressing, but the fans were excited and loud, so that was nice. DC actually walked through the audience, getting everyone up on their feet. It was hilarious! He walked right in front of me but I didn't get a good picture. I should have sat down so he would have pulled me out of my chair but I don't think fast on my feet...so to speak. Oh, well. He's still adorable and his voice is just yummy. Gravelly goodness.

I took today off to eat candy relax after all that driving, do some chores, and buy some candy (we are such procrastinators, OMG). I have been toying with the idea of doing Nanowrimo this year, but I have no real hopes of finishing. I just like the idea of forcing myself to write something - it seems like the older I get, the less I write because I am so preoccupied with "life." But it's good to make time for the things you really love. So, I think I will take another stab. All I need is an idea! LOL...

JP, wearing a mask from the Bioshock event earlier this year. We handed out candy and glow sticks cause we are hardcore. And now, time for some Charlie Brown and Garfield!

Hello, hello. I am still alive (go me!).

Earlier this week, JP and I went to Houston to see the Star Wars in Concert show and it rocked! Anthony Daniels charmingly introduced different film clips and pieces of music and the orchestra was just wonderful. JP and I somehow got bumped up to a suite at the Holiday Inn Express (who knew they even had suites?!) so that was good times, too. We stopped at NASA on the way back home since we have those year-long passes. Boogie! Great weekend, although it rained the whole drive back.

Do you know NASA has a free app for the iphone that shows pictures and mission updates? It's pretty groovy...

Even though I took Monday off for this trip, I still ended up with overtime this week as my days stretched on FOREVER at work. The testing can suck it! And since they are still trying to finalize software stuff, I am having to divide my time between helping with the testing and attending the most boring, yet numerous meetings in the universe. And doing a crap job at both, I might add. People are starting to comment on my crankiness, but seriously? They'd be cranky too if they were responsible for fixing this shit. They crack jokes when stuff breaks, but they are not the ones stuck at work at 8pm, arguing with programmers and fielding calls from anxious directors. I am so done!

Last night, after the latest installment of "What Broke Today?" JP and I headed out to Austin to visit their famous haunted house, The House of Torment. It had some scary bits and the animatronics were impressive (although few of them were actually moving when we walked by). But is was crazy-crowded (of course) and 95% of the people in line were considerably younger than us. There was a second, smaller haunted house that was included in our tickets and this one was a little better: not as open as the first one (so it was hard to tell what was coming), some disorienting rooms, and one part where we had to push our way through what JP called "a birth canal" in complete darkness. We capped the night off with a visit to the Waffle House, and came back home. Hooray!

Someday I will post my Tahoe and New York pictures and recap my NYC trip. But today is not that day. I am exhausted! Shopping today, handing out candy and movie watching tonight! We were invited to a Halloween party, but I am just too damn tired...

Well, not a whole lot to report. My dad is okay, but they still want to poke at him some more. Tomorrow is the end of my work week and, for once, the week just FLEW by. More work-related stuff later. Maybe.

In other news, WHAT THE HELL DO I WRITE ABOUT FOR NANOWRIMO?! I am leaning towards using another one of my freaky dreams, but which one would be better: noodle-head zombies or the one where David Cook yells at me (that might be kinda of short, actually)? Maybe I will have a long, cleverly-crafted, well-paced dream between now and November 1st. Heh.

I looked at my  401K today and was very, very depressed. I need to distract myself from the whole damn thing, but the only thing that I want to do is shop. Err...

We have been invited to a Halloween party, but I am completely indifferent about attending. I will be dressing up (whether we go anywhere or not) as Foxy Brown. Obviously, I look nothing like her, but I've got the sweet afro wig and that's all I really care about anyway.  ^___________^

JP made our windows into an angry/scary cat face with just some poster board and a black light (click on image for bigger pic). Isn't it SWEET?! Too bad we only had a handful of trick-or-treaters again this year. We are going to have to start luring children to our part of the neighborhood. Er, that didn't sound right...

In other news, I don't think I've mentioned that Heroes is knocking my socks off. I am just enjoying the Hell out of it. Any show that uses the tagline, "Save the cheerleader, save the world" is worth a second look, ya know? ^_~

And also, while I am not sure if I am loving the song, the video for the Green Day/U2 collaboration The Saints are Coming absolutely wrecked me. I sat there, crying as I watched it again last night. If only...
