melcreada: (tutu fakir x ahiru)
Back from the cruise and tired as all Hell. I know, right? I actually did get a lot of sleep on the ship, but all the running around in port and traveling and rushing to make the Tutu event yesterday just wore me out.

Glad to be home, although I am sadly behind in emails and my flist. Hope everyone is doing okay. I did read a couple of entries that made me want to reach out and give all of ya'll a great big hug.

*HUGS*

I'll upload a few pictures once the laundry, etc. is taken care of and sundries put away.

Work tomorrow. Bah. But I should be finding out about the bonus in the next few days. Please, God let there be one this year. *sweatdrop*

Tutu event was great - I got my dinky douga signed by the American and Japanese seiyuu and Ikuko Itoh did a little drawing of Ahiru in the corner. *squee*

Hungry!

Little Miss Sunshine is an awesome movie! I cannot recommend it enough! All of the actors did such a good job. I can't wait to see it again! Let's see, that brings my total of Summer Movies I Must Own on DVD to a whopping four: Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Lady in the Water, The Devil Wears Prada, and this one. Whee! I also admit to having a wee crush this big on Paul Dano. So dreamy, so young. Jailbait!

*cough*

Also just finished Princess Tutu. Aw! I loved the ending! There are huge chunks in the story where I was all WTF?! but overall it made as much sense as any ballet plot. *shrug* Fakir and Duck are so cute in the last scene!!! And I'll say no more in case any of ya'll don't want to be spoiled.

Kitten seems to be perking up, but he still sleeps waaaay too much. *woe*

Princess Tutu has the gayest swordfights evar! Which makes sense: ballet, yadda yadda. Also, nekkid Fakir = love. I am a sucker for bad tempered literary knights in various stages of undress. Seriously...who isn't?

Yes, that is the whole content of this entry, other than to say I saw Dead Man's Chest again and liked it even better this time around. However, I will admit: I rewatched the first PotC and the sequel just can't touch it, in plot, acting, hilarity, and pure cheese. *loves them both anyway*

Wonderful day. We had a work-related picnic on campus, by the lake. Perfect weather, gorgeous setting. I didn't even mind that it was my day off and that I went early/stayed late to help set up and break down the event.

The beautiful weather also inspired me to roll up all the windows on my Jeep and that is always fun, too.

I also went shopping for some work clothes, since I am going to be attending some high level meetings soon and traveling as well. And it was just one of those days where everything I tried on fit great and looked fantastic. How often does that happen?! So, yay new work clothes. ^_______^

And finally, I must gush about the latest volume of Princess Tutu because it rocks and rolls all day long, sweet Suzie!

I am so weak. Sam Goody is having a 50% off, going-out-of-business sale, and I am putty in their hands. Picked up discs 3 and 4 of FMP: Fumoffu as well as the two disc special edition of Meet Me in St Louis, Two Weeks Notice, and the Animetoonz cd featuring Kikuko Inoue.

Afterwards, we went to the Vietnamese noodle shop across the street from the mall and had pho tai. Yum!

I watched the second disc of Princess Tutu tonight and I am just enjoying the Hell out of it. The extras are great: I love how they talk about the music of each episode as well as the ballet background of the plot. Fakir is the gay, bitchy boyfriend of my anime dreams! The scenes between him and Mytho are squee-worthy. *harts them*

Finally, a partial meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] skint. I weeded out some of the questions because I was tired:

I am from Planet Look at Me! Look at Me! )

Aw, geez

The bad news: my intestines feel like they are exploding (ew). Also, I have to work in a few hours and here I am. Again.

Oooh. Do mine eyes deceive me?! Anime con in South Padre? Cool.

In other news, Princess Tutu is some crazy shit. Quirky, dark, and layered with some of my favorite classical music, many of the stories are built around ballet plots. On LSD. Seriously. I LOVE the dominant/submissive yaoi-vibe I get from Fakir and Mytho. Run with it, boys. Run with it.

Well, my Princess Tutu fansubs work...on my parent's DVD player. Oh, well. At least I can watch it now.

What finally pushed me to getting the series, besides [livejournal.com profile] raisai's recommendation? This quote from the MIT Anime Club reviewer:

"[Princess Tutu is] Cardcaptor Sakura meets Revolutionary Girl Utena, as directed by David Lynch, with ballet instead of sword duels."

How can you not want to watch that? LOL...

In other news, I am somewhat curious to see The Dreamers. The plot sounds a little like 'Les Enfants Terribles' in regards to the freaky, eff-ed up relationship between the brother and the sister. Oh, those wacky French! ^_~

And speaking of French, just saw 'The Triplets of Belleville.' Unusual and original. The animation wasn't really to my liking, but the grandmother was just *sob* Yeah, I liked the story very much.
