melcreada: (voltron because i'm the captain)
I called in sick today...and spent all morning reading Voltron fan fiction.

VOLTRON. FAN FICTION.

It was excellent and I do not regret one minute of it.

This afternoon we went to see Haywire, starring my new girl crush Gina Carano. I love to see women kicking ass. I must also admit that I am a closet action-flick freak (don't tell the Jane Austen Appreciation Society...they will be scandalized).

Still crampy.
melcreada: (fmp love hurts)
Forgive the verbal vomit. Once I started, I could not stop.

I booked my trip to Cabo San Lucas. HOORAY! Money gone, gone, gone. BOO!

STP is coming to San Antonio. HOORAY!

In other news, we went to the Poteet Strawberry Festival this weekend. The 2.5 hours we crawled along the highway waiting to get into the parking area pretty much killed any burning desire I had for the rest of Fiesta (still going next weekend, though). But once inside, we saw my sister dance, I had a turkey leg (yum), and JP took a picture with a tiger cub! I am thinking a picture post is in order for next time...

I have seen movies and I guess I might mention that:

Run Fat Boy, Run is funny and sweet. Thandie Newton is so beautiful. Like, it's so unfair how beautiful she is.

Leatherheads is amusing and has a very old-fashioned feel to it. It figures that most people didn't really go for it, but as a fan of the golden age of Hollywood, I think this is a nice homage. Nothing fantastic, but still fun.

The Band's Visit is a little foreign film about an Egyptian police ceremonial orchestra accidentally finding themselves in a tiny Israeli town. Nothing happens, but that is the beauty of it all. Fans of Ghibli slice-of-life movies will know what I mean. I love stuff like that.

And since I am running on and on, I might mention that I have been editing a paper for a co-worker, as a favor. And, of course, she gave it to me at the last minute and freaked out when I made lots and lots of corrections. She has been calling and emailing me like crazy and I finally told her at work that I was too busy and she should have gotten it to me earlier. So, maybe I will have made two people cry this month. Yeesh. Pisses me off, though. I enjoy editing, but not for high-strung procrastinators who can't understand why I feel strongly about using the same tense in a paragraph.

Not in these paragraphs, but you know...in others.

I had a loooong, character-filled dream last night wherein I was having a passionate love affair with Gerard Butler. Only it wasn't the actor. It was a writer who looked just like him. Weird, as I don't even find him all that attractive per se. I was his research assistant or something and almost everyone I know was wandering around the dream. Sorry, JP - you were conveniently left out of it (my conscience's doing, no doubt).

American Idol lost hottie Michael Johns and while I was surprised, I really didn't care. This season just isn't doing it for me. I mean, I love David Cook's voice (although not his kewpie doll head) and I think Jason Castro has the beauty of an archangel (a stoned archangel). But there is little to no emotional investment for me. I do feel kinda sorry for David Archuleta because sometimes he looks a little lost and I think Brooke is really made of sugar and spice and everything nice, but WHO CARES?

Damn, I am such a grumpy bastard right now. Only ramen muscles can make me feel better! LOL...that is the weirdest, funniest thing JP has shown me in a while, I swear!
