melcreada: (marie antoinette le hangover)
On Thursday night, JP and I went to see Shakespeare in the Park. They were doing Othello, which made me a little nervous because the troupe normally performs children's theater and comedy is more in their wheelhouse. However, the two actors who played the main parts, Othello and Iago, were really wonderful and made the play one of the better ones we've seen so far. However, I cannot with audiences anymore. People were laughing during some of the most tragic scenes. Bitch, a man has been mentally undone and is strangling his wife. Not hilarious. I just don't know.

Disappointed in you, Shakespeare audience.

Anyway, when I got up for work on Friday, I felt like HELL. Like I was hungover. Only I hadn't been drinking. Shakespeare hangover, LOL. Thankfully, I only worked half a day and went home before...

Michelle's wedding! My co-worker, with whom I've experienced many ups and downs over the past 10 years, finally married her boyfriend yesterday at the lovely Spanish Governor's Palace. I offered to help her, so I got to the venue a couple of hours early to direct the caterer, the bar staff, and the band. I decorated all the tables and set up the side courtyard where they were getting married with candles and rose petals. I was drenched in sweat by the time all the guests arrived, but everything looked beautiful and went off without a hitch. Yay for our side! I really liked that she had music the whole time - a guitarist while people arrived, mariachis during dinner, a jazz band for the rest of dinner/dessert/mingling, and then a DJ for the last hour and a half for dancing. I helped clean up afterwards and then went home to take a 30 minute shower because I felt (and smelled) so gross.

This morning, I am completely stiff from all the running around/dancing I did.

Wedding hangover!

Yay! Eddie Vedder and Glen Hansard are coming to San Antonio! Tickets go on sale in a few days, so hopefully I can get one.

Unfortunately, yesterday and today I had some of the worst headaches I've ever experienced. And although the allergens in the air are just brutal (why the fudge is everything blooming right now?!), these were not allergy headaches. A little scary, but we'll see what happens.

Also, in the "I Called It!" news, it looks like those manager positions I decided not to apply for are being re-classified and the starting pay has dropped way down. Talk about a narrow miss! I'm glad I decided not to apply. The people who did apply are pretty peeved, though. In my department, I was informed that even though we are getting two managers, I will not be under either of them. Instead, I will still report to the VP. It's not for sure, but if it does happen, that will be kinda cool. I will be...above the law!

Don't mind me - copious amounts of ibuprofen turn me into a super dork. Off to get more sleep...
melcreada: (voltron because i'm the captain)
I called in sick today...and spent all morning reading Voltron fan fiction.

VOLTRON. FAN FICTION.

It was excellent and I do not regret one minute of it.

This afternoon we went to see Haywire, starring my new girl crush Gina Carano. I love to see women kicking ass. I must also admit that I am a closet action-flick freak (don't tell the Jane Austen Appreciation Society...they will be scandalized).

Still crampy.
melcreada: (if it kills me)
It's freaking 50 degrees in San Antonio, I went hiking (5 miles, wot wot!), and Osama Bin Laden is dead. Weird shit is afoot!

Dogs and cats, living together! Mass hysteria!

*Not to make light of the Osama thing, it's great that they finally killed him*

So on Thursday morning I was coming down the stairs at home, missed the last step and fell HARD. So hard, in fact, that I wrenched my shoulder a bit and twisted my ankle badly enough that for a moment, I thought it was broken. But I have complete mobility - right now it's just tender and swollen. I have been icing and elevating it and all that jazz.

Yes, I was hurt worse by tripping over a STAIR than by an SUV slamming into the back of my Jeep. The universe's sense of humor is not lost on me...

In other news, it is 37 degrees this morning! LOL! Oh, Texas weather!

True story: about 2 seconds after my boss approved my time off for the beach, my period started. I think my body was giving me the finger.

Why I have the best boyfriend ever: today, as I lay on the couch and prayed for death (a woman's period...DREADFUL, useless human experience IMHO), he ran my errands and brought me back a Snickers Blizzard from Dairy Queen (which I promptly hoovered up...YUM).

Thank you, my darling JP. You will be spared when I go on my PMS-induced killing spree. ♥

So sick of my property taxes going up. They have already moved school lines, so my neighborhood is no longer in the snooty district, yet they still want more money. Grrr...

Ooh, my Shape Ups came in the mail today. Can't wait to try them out tomorrow!

In the Never Gonna Happen News, we are expecting snow showers tomorrow. Excuse me while I go laugh my ass off. That will be the day, San Antonio, that will be the day...

Mel Brooks Blu-ray DVD collection is SO cheap and tempting...

And finally, MY BACK FUCKING HURTS. No idea why, but it does and it is pissing me off!
melcreada: (dia de los muertos)

So, kind of on a whim, I participated in a 5K walk at work today. It wasn't bad - my legs hurt a little and I have a blister on my right foot, but otherwise I feel pretty good. I finished in just under an hour, which isn't bad considering I haven't been exercising at all lately. I think I will reward myself with some sushi tonight and wash it down with a $2 bottle of wine. Wot, wot!

Last night we drove to Austin to see Dave Willis and Dana Snyder of Aqua Teen Hunger Force do their comedy/improv bit at the Alamo Drafthouse. It was pretty damn funny, let me tell you. They were gross and profane and I loved it! Pretty good time...we met them afterward and that was fun, too. Even Master Shake had a good time...
