I haven't been commenting on a lot of posts and for that, I FAIL. I am thinking of you guys and I am reading, just so you knows...

We went to the company Christmas party, which was nice. REO Speedwagon had lots of energy and got the crowd all revved up. Saw a handful of people we knew, ate too much, and listened to a couple of the band's big hits, and beat it out of there. With the exception of my poor feet (high-heeled boots for the lose!) it was a successful evening!

Earlier today I went to the Kona Grill with the girls for sashimi, sake, and gossip. It was an educational lunch as well since I learned what a McDonald's McGangBang was.

...

Oh, yeah - meme time!

Day 02 → Your favorite movie

I went back on forth on this, but in the end I have to go with Whisper of the Heart. It's funny and poignant and painful, just like middle school. I can see myself in Shizuku at that age and I wish I had met a nice, handsome boy who made violins. Bonus that one of the main plot points revolve around John Denver's Country Roads, one of my favorite songs ever. It's a movie I never get tired of and it makes me nostalgic and wistful as well as happy and hopeful. I will say this movie beat out Fellowship of the Rings by a very, very thin margin...

Met the girls after work at Pericos for a quick drink and it was fun. Then there was a bee in my Jeep and that was not so fun.

Yesterday, JP and I went to a free screening (thanks to my sister-in-law, the coupon queen) of Postgrad, which was cute and funny. Of course, because it was free, people had been waiting there literally all day (complete with lawn chairs set up inside the cineplex...freaks). We got there almost an hour early and still got good seats.

There was some Mexican-related humor, so that went down well with this crowd. Alexis Bledel isn't really strong enough to carry a movie and Carol Burnett was woefully underused. The best part of the whole thing was the manager guy announcing that anyone caught using a cell phone or texting would be ejected from the theater and that parents were expected to take crying/talking kids out to the lobby immediately. That got quite a few cheers. ^___^

I have been crazy busy lately with work and suddenly I guess I have some sort of social life. Huh. This weekend is Pancake Theater at Alamo Drafthouse and they are showing The Boy Who Could Fly (one of my old favorites). Then next weekend is Nay-nay's birthday and Wicked. Woo!

For reals, though - I am exhausted...

Met an old high school friend for lunch today. Made me all giggly and then wibbly and then a little sad. When I first met this girl, I couldn't stand her - she was mad-crushing on my older brother and I thought she was just trying to get on my good side because of that. But even after she found out my brother was gay, she still hung around and we became going out buddies.

We spent the lunch hour today just talking about some of our insanity: drunk times, good times, bad times, and even the time we hid from the police. Ah, the good old days! She is a very positive person and although this was supremely annoying when we were 20, I find I tolerate it a little better now. Anyway, yay for renewing friendships!

Also this week, I have happy hour with the girls on Thursday, a heart-to-heart over sushi with a co-worker on Saturday, and the Green Day concert on Sunday. When it rains, it pours. All this socializing is going to make me mucho exhausted!

Also, Nay-nay called me earlier today to tell me she might be out of a job. Again. Oy to the vey.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I get a lot of junk mail, mainly credit card solicitations. But now they are starting to come in Spanish too! I give up...my poor shredder started protesting tonight and I can't says I blame it. Bleh.

Last night I went out with the girls for Roberta's birthday. Eh. Was home by 1:30, if that is any indication.

Embarrassing Confession #364: been watching the performances from the VMA and I really liked Justin Timberlake's! The kid can dance and sing (although the pseudo-falsetto is slightly disturbing). You can see he put a lot of effort into his performance. The Killers rocked, too.

I can't wait 'til next weekend. La Traviata (probably) and American Idol concert. wOOt!

Instead of buying the $100 comforter from Linen's & Things, I went to Walmart and picked up the one in this picture for $30. Go, thrifty shopper! And go JP for suggesting it in the first place! ^___^ It's not what I was planning on, but I like it equally so all's well.

Time to catch up on my Netflix...
