Thank Jeebus and the holy goats that it is the weekend! Trying to get the energy to

1. Get out of bed
2. Make breakfast
3. Color hair
4. Clean up the master bedroom

Things are not looking too promising.

Refinance goes on apace. They sent me a copy of the drive-by appraisal and they weren't kidding! A couple of blurry shots of the front of my house obviously taken from a moving car, LOL! I don't know why that cracks me up, but it does. I see that they took the picture on an early weekend morning because the sun is not quite all the way up, the porch light is still on and my Jeep is parked out front. I see you, Appraiser Man. Creeper.

Still loving The Civil Wars. I guess they are classified as folk singer-songwriters, but there is a strong bluegrass element, kind of a throwback. It's great.

I'm sorry this post isn't more interesting but I have been living and breathing work and it's really not worth discussing. Next time, I will talk about something cool, like my plans to go to Alaska!

Mainly for me...I have to keep this shit straight:

Thursday, 10/13 - JP leaves for NY (I KNOW, RIGHT?!?!) and we have a Recognition Event at work (woohoo, half day!)
Sunday, 10/16 - JP returns
Wednesday, 10/19-10/20 - Jen and Gary arrive for a quick visit
Saturday, 10/22 - Paul's belly dancing show at the downtown theater
Thursday, 10/27 - Flash Gordon is showing downtown at the Slab Cinema. Flash! Ah-ahhhhh!
Saturday 10/29-10/30 - Drive to Houston and then to Austin to see David Cook in concert (YAY!)

There is other stuff in there, but those are the high points I think.

And wouldn't you know...work is starting to get crazy-busy.  : (

In other news, we went to see Xanadu the Musical at the local community theater last weekend. It was hilarious! Sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally. Good times, though. I was impressed by the amount of actual roller skating occurring onstage. It makes me really wish I had seen the show when it was on Broadway.  Oh, well.

Enjoying Notorious and drinking a Cuba Libre, which may not be keeping with the movie's time frame, but in my head Cuba is tied to spying which is tied to spy movies.

Yeah, something like that.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited for the weekend.

I worked 63 hours this week! I am le tired...

Time to get my drink on!

I hope 2011 brings you all health and happiness, with as much joy and as little sorrow as possible.  ♥ ♥ ♥

As to resolutions, I thought I would keep it simple:

1. Start working out again. When I started working 50+ hours a week, my workout routine was the first thing to go and even before that, I was not as diligent as I could have been.

2. I will finish at least 3 major projects with the house, which may or may not include: replacing the 2nd story siding, digging up and replacing the pipe in the front yard, putting new flooring downstairs, replacing the fence, re-grouting the shower in the master bath, changing out the toilets in the master and half-bath, and having someone come out and look at/fix our dead lawn. With the exception of the siding, none of these projects will be terribly expensive and I have no reason to dawdle.

3. Be a better girlfriend/friend/sister/daughter. I get so wrapped up in me me me, that sometimes the people around me get neglected. Every year I make an oath that I am going to work on my relationships. Sometimes I succeed and other times, not so much. But I won't ever stop trying.

4. Write more and read more. I have no excuse; there are several half-stories and ideas floating around on Notepad and Word. I just need to keep at them, even if it's just for my own pleasure. I have been reading more lately and remembering how much I love it; I have a lovely tower of books, thanks to several sales at Half-Price Books; again, no excuse. Time to get my learn on!

Last night, we went for Indian food and then came home and watched part of the Dr. Who marathon. I hadn't seen the end of Tennant's run, so I got to watch that and a couple of other episodes with him. I am not a huge fan of the series and I've only seen a couple of others play the character, but David Tennant will always be the Doctor for me.

Is it weird to anyone but me that so many store/restaurant web sites make you hunt and click every blessed link to find their freaking hours??? I exempt national chains from this because of sheer quantity, but even at that, when I click on the information for a particular store, how about listing their hours next to the directions and phone number? Some places just don't list them at all which absolutely boggles my mind. I know I can call them, but often I am immediately put on hold and, on more than one occasion, given the wrong time anyway! It's a silly little thing that annoys me when I go online to look up store info. Blegh.

We saw Morning Glory and it is an excellent movie! Well-written, well-acted, funny, and touching. I love stories set in the broadcasting or newspaper business. Go see it, you will love it. Promise.

In cool news, David Sedaris had a book reading/signing at one of the Borders in town and we went. There were quite a few people, but he took his time with every person. Which is fantastic, yet incredibly tedious. I haven't read any of his books, with the exception of a few essays/stories, but I like what he does and enjoyed his talk. JP stood in line to get his book signed and got to meet him, so that was neat.

In other news, during my week off (WOO!), I plan on:

1. Taking my defensive driving class online
2. Starting my Christmas shopping
3. Making some blackberry cordial (I AM EXCITE! ABOUT THIS)
4. Sleeping
5. Family/friends/day trips/yadda yadda
