We went to see Twelfth Night at the annual Shakespeare in the Park on Friday night. The Magik Theater always set the Bard's plays in different times. This one had a Beach Blanket Bingo facade, complete with brightly colored bathhouses, a live band playing 50s beach music, and Fabian doing his best Keanu Reeves surfer impersonation. Not bad, but missing something. The weather, however, was lovely and the white wine sangria, lip-smacking good.

I bought the most enormous white and gold floppy straw hat yesterday. It is both ridiculous AND glorious. So far, my plan to start saving extra money is not going so well. Today will be better. *nods*

Speaking of spending money, though, I am thinking about asking for a kindle for my birthday. My inner librarian has been steadfastly against it, but I realize that I just don't have the room for all my damn books plus packing three or four hardbacks every time I go on vacation is getting hard on the old carcass (dragging my carry on across San Fran, on the BART, and through the airport convinced me). I may have to keep some books for nostalgic purposes and because I love the way they smell...but I just feel like I'm ready to take the next step. *excite*

Ugh. I want a cupcake so bad right now, but all my milk is spoiled and I'd rather be hogtied to an anthill than go to the grocery store on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe later...

I finally saw Sherlock Holmes tonight. I thought it was excellent! I mean, the story wasn't all that great and Rachel McAdams was not at her best, but I thought RDJ and Jude Law were fantastic. Even though they deviated in many, many ways from the characters in the book, the true spirit was there. Watson cut a much more dashing figure, but I can't complain about that. The easy comraderie and bits of hoyay! were just icing on the cake, so to speak. Although, I definitely don't remember any of THAT in The Hound of the Baskervilles...

Okay, meme time and then I have to get a snack as I am starving. Yet again.

Day 19 → A talent of yours

It ain't much, but I can bake a mean cupcake. I have yet to learn the secrets of great cake-making, but I got these little guys down pat. Yummy!

Work can suck it. I am so exhausted! Admittedly, all the crap they keep throwing on me does make the week go faster. There is also talk of sending me to Dallas for the day next week, so I can see the new system up close and personal. Yay.

Okay, off to make some cupcakes. More interesting post later? That is a big maybe. Perhaps I will talk about Overpriced Pancake Theater or my weekend with Nay-nay!
melcreada: (twilight bitch as if!)

We had a potluck today (as "essential" personnel, we worked on the business holiday) and I baked cupcakes! They were a big hit. Hooray!!

Also, I would just like to thank the great state of California (who is issuing post-dated checks that are breaking our system). Because of them, I have to cut my vacation short and do a little work next week.

My threat gift to JP for Valentine's Day...

I am mad-craving cake right now. I could get off my lazy ass and make those banana cupcakes with chocolate icing that I have been planning for like a month now, but it's Sunday night and I just don't feel like it. Business idea #366: Cake/dessert delivery service. It's a good thing I don't have the money to be an entrepreneur - I'd go broke in no time! LOL!

In other news, at work they are subsidizing the "My Helper" program where, for a small fee, you can get someone to go grocery shopping for you, take your car to get tuned up, and even plan your vacation. The "helpers" are all bonded and have to go through a thorough background check, so you PROBABLY won't get an axe murderer or anything. I won't lie, I am sooooo tempted to try it. However, the shame of having someone run my errands for me when I don't have a good reason for not running them myself is holding me back. But I hate the grocery store real bad! Decisions, decisions.

This morning, JP and I went to see Outlander, which is not nearly as bad as the plot makes it sound (spaceman vs. other alien creature in the time of Vikings). It stars that hot guy who played Jesus in Passion of the Christ. Good to know he is still getting work. It's like Lord of the Rings meets The 13th Warrior and they have a hootenanny with Predator and Beowulf. I liked it, though even though some of it didn't make a lot of sense. It was worth the $4. And, you know, any excuse to eat popcorn.

Okay, I'm off to watch some Ouran, season 2 (huzzah!).

Hello, all. I am back (sorta). Trying to gear up for Christmas, but have seemed to sputter and stop. We have a tree, but it's not decorated. I have bought almost all the presents on my list, but none of them are wrapped or mailed. I have Christmas cards and addresses, but have not filled out a single one.

Birthday is approaching at breakneck pace. I will be thirty-five, my dears. Truly, I must rethink my ideas of middle age. Er...

So, I plan on getting something nice for myself on the happy day. I am tempted by a certain nifty ear-flap-having knit hat since most knit hats do not go over my ears because 1. I have a large head and 2. My glasses tend to block any low wearing. I would also like some LUSH goodies, but we'll have to see about that. I can't get too crazy - I have a monumental credit card bill to pay off. Oh, the joys of debt!

I can't believe this is the extent of my news, but there you have it.

I would like a cupcake right now, yes I would.

Mmm, finally made some chocolate-frosted banana cupcakes. Yay! Took the majority of them to work so I don't sit at home and eat a dozen in one sitting.

Ugh. I am so sick of my messy room and messy house! Almost sick enough to do something about it. Er...

Working massive overtime because we took Wednesday off for the holiday and the first week of the month is always busy. So, I came home today and took a lovely nap in which I had a very long, meandering dream where I jumped in and out of characters and Blake Lewis came to my grandma's house and painted a mural on her living room wall! Yeah, I know. What the Hell did I put in those cupcakes?

Also, I don't know if it's all the rain or what, but I've been getting really emotional. Especially at night when I am in bed, trying to sleep. I hate that. Not just the big, overwhelming desperation, but from a technical aspect: I get all stopped up with snot. That sucks.

Maybe I need some retail therapy?

I made my earlier emo post private because it came out all wrong. I sounded bitter, like my pride had been wounded. And that wasn't it at all. It was something more than that and something I could try and explain for the next 20 years and still be misunderstood. So, eh. I'm okay now.

AND I bring you...eyeball cupcakes for the spooky potluck tomorrow:

That's right. Made by these two hands, if you can believe that. Look out! LOL...

And I'm still in shock over how fast my hair grew since June. If only I wasn't going gray, it would be so awesome! Heh.
