melcreada: (drinky! yay!)
I am almost completely off for a whole week!!! I just have a couple of things to work on from home and I am sure I will get getting a million calls on Monday when they move the servers and test them, but otherwise I am in the clear. SWEET FREEDOM!!!!

I got my hair colored at the beauty school again and the lovely young gay man who worked on me asked if I wanted my make up done. I knew it was a mistake, but I said yes and he shellacked it on! I mean, the actual eye and lip stuff was fine, but the base! He used a paintbrush! I can't stand that shit on my face and I don't care what anyone says, I think it makes you look older, not younger. At least the makeup part was complimentary - they just do it to practice or for funsies. I left looking like a J. Lo drag queen. But Kate was a sweetheart and he did a good job coloring my hair so I forgive him for the 5 pounds of makeup he troweled on.

I have already started Christmas shopping for some stuff. I don't love to do it, but I get a kick out of wrapping and giving the presents. That is my favorite part, alongside the baking and the Christmas music and the baby Jesus. LOL. ♥ ♥ ♥

I have some good news on the job front (I think), although I can't disclose anything until the deed is done...sometime in February of next year.

So, we went ahead and bought a 55" Toshiba TV at Sears - it was on sale and they were offering $110 Sear's Rewards dollars to use in the store, so we jumped on it. It's very...big. Like, I need to knock down a wall and move the couch back big. o_O I also bought JP the sound system he wanted and we are going to upgrade the TiVo, so no more personal spending for me this holiday! But I am satisfied...we have been looking to buy a second TV for awhile now. Two televisions in the house! How decadent! ^_~ That makes me feel like I am successful...although I don't think anyone else would consider it that way.

In other news, we ate hot wings for dinner last night and now my stomach is giving me a what for - hopefully it settles down because later JP and I want to check out a state park.

Fab Thanksgiving with the familia. So. Much. Food. My sister makes a great side dish of mashed turnips and carrots. Yum! In addition, we had turkey, ham, 50 other side dishes, and a billion different pies. LOL! As usual, my brother and sister invited their friends so we were a full house. Very nice.

In amusing news, I bought those "as seen on tv" bumpits because my hair, she is so very flat. I am now rocking the Amy Winehouse look. LOL! I am totally wearing one for the big company Christmas party. *snicker*

Off to nap before I go out for Black Friday. Bring. It. On.

Okay, I am going to reveal what a total LAZY ASS I am by stealing one, count 'em, ONE question from a meme posted by the fab [profile] wordsthatfail.

List the three to five biggest things going on in your life:

- HAIR, HAIR, HAIR. My hair is driving me insane! First, the gray is coming in fast and furious. I have to color it every three weeks and even then, I still have a skunk stripe along my part in that third week. It's weird! And all the coloring plus blow dryer action is making my coarse hair even coarser. Also, I still haven't found a style or stylist I really love, so it's still all about experimenting (often with blah results).

I cannot believe one the biggest things in my life right now is HAIR.

- Writing. I have been dabbling in drabbles and poetry, mainly to keep my hand in. I don't know if I've ever been really serious about it, but it makes me happy to play with words and goodness knows I'll burn out soon enough and put it all aside again. Best to enjoy it while I can.

- Music. I have started (yet again) to move all my CDs to iTunes. It's fun, seriously! *stabs eyes out* Looking forward to various concerts and contemplating one or two more before the year is out as well. I tend to forget how much I enjoy music and how it cheers, consoles, and  makes our silly little selves feel understood.

- Exercise. Sort of. I belong to the gym at work and if  can get 150 visits in a year, I get a 100% refund of my monthly dues. Last year, I got a 50% refund, but I am going for the gold this time! Is it wrong that I want to kill the perky, orange girls who work there? Seriously, dude - no one needs that much tanner. Bronzer? Whatever. YOU ARE ORANGE.

- Family. Well, family is always important, but I was just thinking yesterday as we celebrated Father's Day together: my parents and my brother are not in the best health. I could probably afford to spend more time with them, particularly my bro. And I make excuses sometimes because I feel like I deserve my down time and mostly, I like being on my own or with JP. Going to visit usually includes planning an activity and putting on my happy face and sometimes the happy face just won't go on, you know? But I need to get the fuck over it and start acting like a grown up. So, this summer will be the resurgence of family time! Whether they like it or not, LOL!

Hmm, actually felt nice to get all that out. Hooray for catharsis!

I made my earlier emo post private because it came out all wrong. I sounded bitter, like my pride had been wounded. And that wasn't it at all. It was something more than that and something I could try and explain for the next 20 years and still be misunderstood. So, eh. I'm okay now.

AND I bring you...eyeball cupcakes for the spooky potluck tomorrow:

That's right. Made by these two hands, if you can believe that. Look out! LOL...

And I'm still in shock over how fast my hair grew since June. If only I wasn't going gray, it would be so awesome! Heh.

Here is Greenwood is awesome! I love how Shun's class puts on a play of Castle of Cagliostro. Feeling the Lupin love in another anime just gives me the warm fuzzies. Thinking I am going to buy this DVD...

Oh, and dare accepted! Yesterday I picked a random salon from the yellow pages and got an inexpensive haircut from a transvestite with very nice boobs. She did a great job: shampoo, cut, and style for $28. I paid $80 for my last salon visit, so this was a definite improvement!

Forgive the goofy faces - I can't take a regular picture of myself )

Okay, going to bed.
