JP put the Christmas lights up. Huzzah! They are very pretty and it's getting cold so it actually feels like Christmas/winter time. ^___^

In lieu of anything interesting to report, I bring you flickr search meme stolen from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] annearchy .

Ugh. I had the better part of a bottle of Pinot Noir last night with our pizza and have been feeling oogy all day, in spite of plenty of fluids and ibuprofen. Nothing I can't handle, but my stomach! I have eaten nothing all day except a huge bowl of veggies (my feeble attempt at health).

Am I totally out of the loop? Why does everyone have their Christmas lights up already?! The guys at the end of my street have had theirs up for almost two weeks now! Calm down! We haven't even gotten to Thanksgiving! Why am I shouting at my flist?!

^____^

In other news, I am getting a Christmas bonus (yay) but it will not arrive until the second week of December and I plan on having the bulk of my Christmas shopping done by then. Exactly *how* is still under debate, but I'll figure something out. Maybe.

I have been enjoying my vacay very much, especially since I made the decision to put my nanowrimo story to bed. At 27K words, when I still hadn't gotten to the main plot point, I realized I was just going in circles. I'm a little bummed, but I just need to do a whole lot of nothing for awhile. So far, so good.

JP and I have watched the first season of Ouran Host Club, which is just as funny dubbed as subbed. We also went to see Ashes of Time Redux, which was not so good. Kind of incomprehensible actually. I don't really recommend it as the cinematography isn't all that (the movie is apparently really old and has been "touched up" but not nearly enough IMO) and there are barely any action scenes. All in all, a bit of a confusing bore.

And finally (thanks for staying with me), a random meme! If I had a nickel for every time someone told me I should have been born a Pisces, I'd have like 15 cents or something...

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I am, as always, very grateful for all the wonderful things in my life (much as I like to complain about the less wonderful aspects of it). And I couldn't ask for a sweeter, funnier bunch of people on my flist. *hugs*

Shout out to [profile] wonderelf  for the absolute best package that just happened to arrive on Christmas eve! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have sent you an email because I swear you have been reading my mind! Up with venting!!! ^_~

And thank you, dear [personal profile] shiroibara , for the lovely Christmas ecard. I loved it. *^____^*

And, just for the heck of it, I bring you...pictures! Some Christmas and some...well, you'll see:

G'night, all. Pleasant dreams...
melcreada: (love com awake)

I need to start watching my spending. I always go a little crazy during the holidays. I can't help it! Santa made me do it!

JP and I were at the Half Price Books earlier and lo! They had several volumes of Boys over Flowers manga, but of course I couldn't remember which ones I was missing so I had to pass because I am an airhead. But I am going back. Oh, yes, I am going back.

What was that about saving money? LOL...

We also went to see Sweeny Todd earlier and...yeah. Let me preface this by saying that I loooove Johnny Depp and I would willingly have Alan Rickman babies if only he would ask. I am also nuts about musicals and actors who can sing. But...ew. Blood splatters everywhere. If the live performance of Sweeny is anything like the movie, it must resemble a Gallagher show

I know, I know. Melissa you are a weenie with a weak stomach, you say.  Johnny and Alan singing should have transported you to another realm of fandom where none of the icky stuff could touch you. But. I dunno. The singing was good. The actors were good (I also love Helena Bonham Carter). And the seaside scenes were both hilarious and a little heartbreaking, but overall I just couldn't get into it. Couldn't get past the grody-ness of it all. *sadface*

Tomorrow, I have three million things to do because procrastination rules!!!
melcreada: (christmas tropics)

I am grateful:

[profile] nurikot: THANK YOU!!! I can't wait to start watching it...and thank you for the gift. It made me smile, to think of Kyoto. And laugh...you'll see when my packet gets to you. LOL...

[profile] ixiepixie: Thank you for the ornament! JP and I were laughing because it took us a moment to figure it out. Duh! You are a sweetheart...er, you still live at the same address don't you? Why I don't ask these questions before sending stuff out, I have no clue... ^__^;;;

[personal profile] shirobara: Thank  you for the card!! Hope those early hours at work are treating you okay. ^_~

I sent all my cards and gifties out yesterday - go me for waiting until the third week of December (again) to mail Christmas stuff. I have also wrapped most of my presents and they are sitting in my closet. Rock on!

Well, I never thought the day would come when I would defend Jessica Simpson, but the whole fuss about her being a bad luck charm is just too ridiculous. Now, here is Texas, we are crazy for our sports. Especially football and basketball. Which is all fine and dandy - but the vitriol spilled against this dingbat is unbelievable. It's an embarrassment to anyone with a brain. They didn't play well enough to win. End of story. Get over it and go focus on something else, like your family or the ozone layer. Yeesh.

Cleaning the house is slow going. But I just filled three big trashcans outside. Huzzah!
melcreada: (christmas martini)

Hee, hee...

On the twelfth day of Christmas, joseishijin sent to me...
Twelve handbags drumming
Eleven islands piping
Ten degas a-leaping
Nine books dancing
Eight writers a-reading
Seven drinks a-writing
Six philippines a-traveling
Five ani-i-i-ime conventions
Four two towers
Three bloody marys
Two military brats
...and a sephora in a company.

I need to go grocery shopping but dun wanna...
melcreada: (cupcake)
Hello, all. I am back (sorta). Trying to gear up for Christmas, but have seemed to sputter and stop. We have a tree, but it's not decorated. I have bought almost all the presents on my list, but none of them are wrapped or mailed. I have Christmas cards and addresses, but have not filled out a single one.

Birthday is approaching at breakneck pace. I will be thirty-five, my dears. Truly, I must rethink my ideas of middle age. Er...

So, I plan on getting something nice for myself on the happy day. I am tempted by a certain nifty ear-flap-having knit hat since most knit hats do not go over my ears because 1. I have a large head and 2. My glasses tend to block any low wearing. I would also like some LUSH goodies, but we'll have to see about that. I can't get too crazy - I have a monumental credit card bill to pay off. Oh, the joys of debt!

I can't believe this is the extent of my news, but there you have it.

I would like a cupcake right now, yes I would.
melcreada: (christmas candles)

Okay, in a nutshell:

Work is eh.

I am broke, but will be receiving a Christmas bonus in a couple of weeks. So, yay!

God, I love this time of year.

The movie Shimotsuma Monogatari (Kamikaze Girls in the U.S.) is full of win! I loved the girl who played Ichigo - her attitude is very over the top cholo. It is just weirdly funny and oddly touching. I can totally relate to the loli's apathy, LOL!

Also, instead of purchasing $40 tickets to see the Nutcracker ballet, I bought my favorite version Nutcracker: The Motion Picture for $15. It's something we used to watch every year on TV all through my high school and college days. It's time it came home.

And finally, my NaNoWriMo update: I am still about 4K words away from hitting 50K. I am not sure why I am pushing myself so hard to finish in the allotted time, but you know. I just am. I don't know if I would do it again, though. Forcing stuff out, especially for someone who likes to self-edit TO DEATH, is excruciating at times. But it's been a learning experience. And, who knows? Maybe after a year off, I'll be raring to go! LOL...at least my typing skills have gotten a bit better. Sorta.

It's that time again: I am creating a poll to gather addresses for the annual Christmas cards! Please to be putting your address here and I will send unto you a card with many warm wishes and possibly some sparkly glitter. ^____^

I have been back to work two days and it feels like two weeks. Bah.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Mine was quite good. I received lots of gift certificates and goodies, including the Sex in the City boxset. Woo! True to my promise, I spent Christmas day in my pajamas, watching my new DVDs and FMP. Sagura learning to pose as Mizuki's lecherous boyfriend is still so very much with the awesome. In English, Chris Patton's deadpan just fits the character so perfectly. Yay for slothy-good times!

Many thanks to [personal profile] whitereflection for the lovely card and note. *snuggles you*

In random news, I am thinking about changing my LJ name to something a little simpler, a little easier to pronounce, and a little more me, circa present time. I am also tired of being called "Jose." LOL! We'll see - you know how long it takes for me to decide on anything.

Yoinked because it is so perfect:

Elementary, my dear Joseishijin.

Also, many thanks to [personal profile] shiroibara  and [profile] spinizuey  for the lovely cards!!! *mwah*

Time to get ready for the festivities tonight. Have a very Merry Christmas eve, flist!!!

melcreada: (fmp love hurts)

Just curious 'cause I don't see it on trees anymore. We haven't used it for years: Mom hated the mess and I've had cats for years now, ergo no tinsel. Hmmm.

Today, I went over to my parent's house and Paula and I cleaned, vaccuumed, and mopped in preparation for the party tomorrow. Truly a feat to behold because both us barely clean our own houses. >____<  Afterwards, we hung out for awhile, laughing and talking with the 'rents.

Then, I came home, finished baking and present wrapping (yes, still!), and colored/set my hair.

Tomorrow is brunch with Nay-nay and party/presents in the evening with the entire familia. I can't wait for Christmas Day, when the baking/visiting/drinking will be over. I plan on staying in my pajamas all day, eating chicken pot pies and watching Full Metal Panic. Merry Christmas to me!

It has been cold and rainy here. Not cold enough to ice or snow but still damn nippy!

Also, THANK YOU, [profile] ixiepixie!!! I love the art book - it was the perfect gift. *hugs*
melcreada: (christmas snow)
I know I am truly in the Christmas spirit when I am in an old cardigan and Eeyore slippers, drinking wine and baking cookies.

Hmm, cookies are crap. Not enough flour. I don't have a sifter and I think I underestimated. Oops. They were supposed to be Mexican wedding cookies (very popular, sugar-rolled goodie), but they turned out a crumbly mess. Eh. Hit or miss with me. Thank goodness I have the back up cake mix to make another dessert for Christmas eve with the familia.

The wine is lovely, though. Especially for $8.99. Let's hear it for the thrifty oenophile! Damn, I am so much smarter when I drink - I would have never remembered that word otherwise. ^_~

I forgot to mention that last week JP and I went downtown to the Riverwalk to see the lights and ride the river boat. It was lovely. Those pictures are older, but that's exactly what it looks like.

Also saw Night at the Museum today. Cute movie. Nothing too hilarious, but very sweet.

I'd also like to take a moment and apologize: about half of ya'll will be getting presents/cards late as I only finished mailing everything yesterday. Er...happy new year? ^___^;;;;;

I should wrap presents, watch my Netflix movies, and stop rambling. Not necessarily in that order.
melcreada: (ouran denied)
That's right...just as I'm getting used to one thing, change it a little to throw me off! The ol' bait and switch...

*nods sagely*

Still happy and am beginning to think I am so emo the rest of the year because I save all the woo!whee! for December. Huh.  But it's nice. Right now, I'm not hyper-happy, but quietly content. Yes, precious.

The cats are really loving the Christmas tree this year. They love chewing on the lights and climbing it and ripping the skirt off so they can get to the sugar water. This will be the messiest Christmas ever! >___<

I have been listening to lots of Escaflowne and Mononoke soundtracks and I think it is enhancing my feeling of peace. Wonderful memories of rediscovering anime. Thinking about how, when I realized they would be debuting the Esca movie at AX, I resolved to get there by hook or by crook. And once there, being so broke, I subsisted on cup of noodles and granola bars. LOL... Worth it, though.

I am totally rambling, revealing my age.

I really need to wash my sheets (since I'm being random). Towels, too.

I know there will be other events (JP is trying to organize Game Night with a couple we know and we are supposed to get together with San for dinner some night). Cripes, no wonder I barely go out the rest of the year...
melcreada: (christmas berries)

Well, today I wore my Urkel pants. My ankles were cold.

And because I haven't been annoying enough:

Reasons to be Happy

1. My boss is going on vacation next week. Boogie!
2. Christmas!Woo!
3. Company Christmas party where Foreigner will er...rock the house? Well, it's an excuse to try out the curling iron and eat lots of free food.
4. Christmas gifts are sitting in a nice, big comfy pile near the bedroom sofa.
5. JP has commenced to decorate the front of the house with colored lights and electronic Kris-moose!
6. Lots of stuff planned over the next two weeks that is still far enough in advance to look forward to (come see me Saturday afternoon when I am cursing the world and refusing to leave the house because I have burned my forehead and feel fat in my dress).

Meme stolen from everyone!

melcreada: (christmas candles)
I know it's only the third day of December, but woo! Christmas! Woo!

I will be cursing it in about two weeks. LOL...

In the meantime, I continue to look forward to the following events:

12/9 - company Christmas party. Maybe I will curl my hair? AHAHAHAHAHAHA! *cough*
12/16 - Celebrate birthday with the girls. Yay for being downtown when it is (hopefully) cold, with all the sparkly lights and candle-lit walkways
12/17 - going out for birthday/anniversary family dinner. Maybe will have steak?
12/19 - JP is taking me for sushi on my birthday, a huge concession because the smell of it makes him sick. *mwah*
12/24-12/31 - various family and friend get-togethers, during which time I shall be grumpy and over-satisfied with the whole ballyhoo.

Can't wait!

Because I thought it was funny...

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Friday I pulled over and changed [livejournal.com profile] angelic_editor's flat tire (15 points). In May I gave [livejournal.com profile] wonderelf a Dutch Oven (-10 points). Last month I helped [livejournal.com profile] snowcalico hide a body (-173 points). Last Sunday I didn't flush (-1 points). Last Wednesday I punched [livejournal.com profile] whitereflection in the arm (-10 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-179 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
joseishijin
